Nokia 5800 smartphone has become one of the most sold touchphone models in 2009.
The sales of mobile devices with touch screen continue to increase. The leadership of this technology no longer belongs to Apple, but Nokia. In 2009, the Finnish company sold 4071% more sensory smartphones than a year earlier and almost caught up with the number of devices sold by the Steve Jobs company.

In 2009, the sales of smart phones set a new record – 166 million units; for the first time more than half of them (55%) were equipped with touch controls. Touchphone sales for the year increased by 109%, to 75 million, while the overall increase in the smartphone market is 41%. This is stated in the report of Canalys analyst firm.
4071% more
Even more interesting looks the distribution of touch phones by manufacturers. It turns out that the main part of the growth belongs to the Finnish Nokia, which for the year increased its sales by 4071% (!): In 2008 the company sold nearly half a million touchphones, and in 2009 about 22.4 million. Budget Nokia Devices for Indian Users

Posted by nokiamania On February - 10 - 2010

Nokia company plans to introduce super-budget phones to the Indian mobile market where, despite the fact that it is the second largest in the world, there are still more than 500 million people who do not have mobile phones.
It is expected that Nokia phones will cost no more than 1,000 INR (about $ 20), moreover, according to Economic Times India, among them will be several devices, the price of which will be only $ 10. It should be noted that currently the cheapest new phone of the Finnish manufacturer is Nokia 1280, which costs about $ 30. The model is equipped with a 1.35-inch display, the resolution of which is 96×68 pixels, FM-radio, speakerphone, 3.5 mm audio connector, as well as the opportunity to have mp3-melody ringtones.

With regard to new products for India, there are no pictures and no alleged characteristics. But it is already clear that the phones will not differ greatly from the already well-known Nokia 1280.
We cannot forget about another mobile phone, which also plans to submit the budget news for Indian users. A company called Gee Pee also wants to start selling phones for $ 10, but the most interesting fact is that these mobile phones are very reminiscent of the design of Nokia devices.

Nokia Company, the world’s largest cell phone manufacturer, reported that the staff at the factory in Salo (Finland) will be reduced to 7,7 times.
The factory will have a maximum of 285 employees engaged in the manufacturing and support. Currently there are about 2,2 thousand people.
Nokia will “as far as possible,” consider alternative positions for the staff in the company, the report said. The employees will be consulted, including a discussion of voluntary departure.
In addition, the company will not make the remaining staff leave the factory until the end of June this year.

In the network has already appeared reports that the Nokia Company will not announce new mobile devices during the Mobile World Congress 2010, which will take place in Barcelona on 15 of February. However, it is expected that the release of several new products will be announced earlier, that is, very soon. It is believed that they will announce a new series of C devices. At the moment little is known about Nokia C5 model, plus C3 name was also mentioned. Nokia C5 is quite a simple smartphone based on Symbian S60 3rd edition FP2, and is unlikely to be expensive. The device is equipped with a 2.2-inch QVGA display, numeric keypad and 3.2 megapixel camera. According to the preliminary data, there is an FM radio and support for GPS / A-GPS, microSD memory card and 3,5 G networks.
Besides these two new products Nokia C6 model will also be announced. Nothing about this device is yet known. Perhaps it would be an affordable simple model. By the way, the original source said that under the C6 name will be sold a monoblock with QWERTY keyboard, known as Mystic. But then it was said that Nokia C6 is another device.

Scandal Around Nokia

Posted by nokiamania On February - 9 - 2010

The largest global manufacturer of mobile phones, Nokia, intends to “vigorously” defend itself in court on charges of fraud. The scandal erupted last Friday when a group of investors from the United States has accused the Finnish manufacturer of concealing information and as a consequence of falling profits. The petition was filed in federal court in New York on February 5.

It noted, that Nokia had not informed investors about the production delays in the release of certain models of mobile phones in 2008. According to the plaintiffs, this violation of the decline in prices of Nokia products, led to a drop in the cost of mobile phones and reduction of operating profit. Nokia, in its turn, called all the allegations ungrounded.
We would like to mention that the company’s net profit in 2009 decreased 4,5 times and was only 891 million euros compared to the 3.99 billion euros of a year earlier.

Both vendors should be happy, as the sales of mobile phones have been soared. The consumers are still demanding, especially when choosing a Smartphone, they are carefully evaluating the traditional price / quality.
According to IDC, during the period of the report there have been sold 325.3 million mobile devices against 292.4 million shipped in the last three months of 2008.

Both Nokia and Apple increased their own sales approximately for 17% when compared with the third quarter. At the same time Apple has sold 8.7 million of iPhones – a new record. But Nokia does not stand still: the Finnish giant is working hard on improving the user interface of Symbian-Smartphones, including an abundance of new features. Nokia released the 126.9 million phones, 20.8 million of which is accounted for Smartphones.
Samsung and LG have also set a record of number of phones – 68,8 and 33,9 million.
Sony Ericsson and Motorola continue to struggle – 14,6 and 12,0 million units constituted their sale.
During 2009 the Smartphone market was the mainstay of the total mobile phone market. Smartphones have shown annual increase of around 30% against a 5 per cent fall of the mobile segment as a whole.

Posted by nokiamania On February - 8 - 2010

The developers of Mozilla Company presented the first official version of their Firefox browser for Maemo OS mobile operating system and for Nokia N900 devices. Previously known under the codename “Fennec”, this browser offers the mobile users almost all the same features and possibilities of expanding, as the desktop version.

Awesome Bar Universal Address line, which is implemented in a mobile Firefox, helps to move to the favorite sites by pressing two or three keys. The Weave Sync technology lets you synchronize tabs, history, bookmarks and passwords with the desktop copies of Firefox – your browser with all the settings will now be able to follow you anywhere in the world. One of the most anticipated features is the support of extensions, bringing the current popularity of Firefox desktop– yet, the users can have more than 40 extensions. The developers can create mobile extensions to Firefox using the latest web technologies, including HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, extending functionality.

The function of viewing Web sites considering the location of the user (Location-Aware Browsing) helps to produce maps and other information about the place where you are. Support of the tabs is added with the view of the contents of the tabs as sketches. The Instant Web Site ID integrated service provides additional safety – you can use and edit your personal settings of security for different web sites and web pages. The separate enjoyable moment was the localization of the newly released official browser for more than 30 languages, and this number continues to grow up.

With regard to the extensions for the Firefox browser for Mobile 1.0, we should mention such expansion as TwitterBar for working as a micro blog, AdBlock Plus for blockades of the advertisement and YouTube Enabler for the comfortable work with an extensive video hosting service. These and other extensions to the mobile Firefox can be found in the gallery of mobile extensions. The browser itself can be downloaded from the mobile device. After the release of Firefox for Maemo/N900, it will be soon released on the Android platform, and on several other systems. The bad news is that the edition of the mobile Firefox on the platforms of BlackBerry and IPhone will not be significant in the plans of developers.
