The video presentation lasts about five and a half minutes, and gives details about Symbian^ 3 user interface, as well as some information about the desktop. David Rivas notes that the performance of the platform has been upgraded by three times, users will be able to experience all the charms of multitasking: applications work perfectly in the background. In its report Nokia has said about the support for multitouch technology, which will be implemented on capacitive as well as on resistive touch screens. It should be noted that the first devices working under the control of this operating system, are expected to appear in the mobile market in the third quarter of this year. |

Nokia vs. Apple Court Date Set for 2012(0) It seems that the judicial proceedings in patent matters “Nokia vs Apple” will not end soon. In fact, the first court listening of the case will take place only in 2012, when the U.S. court will have to decide what patents were violated and who did the violations. According to Reuters news agency and several anonymous analysts, Nokia would like Apple to recover its damages in the amount of approximately $ 1.36 billion. It should be reminded that the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer filed a lawsuit against Apple in October last year, arguing that while creating iPhone Californian company had violated a dozen patents of Nokia. In December, Apple had filed the counterclaim, arguing that in fact Nokia violated 13 patents. A little later, Apple withdrew the charges of violation of 4 patents, but this did not stop Nokia, which had filed another lawsuit (also in December). Meanwhile, Apple decided to sue HTC, which the analysts have immediately interpreted as an indirect attack on Google, thus unceremoniously invading the territory of the creator of the iPhone. |

Nokia Invented an Uncharging Mobile Phone(2) The Finnish company Nokia has developed a new technology which is designed to save users from having to charge mobile phones or smartphones. The battery will be charged if you carry the phone in your pocket or just twist it in your hands. This design allows the device to charge the battery on a continuous basis on the account of the surrounding radio waves or kinetic energy, which is then transformed into electricity. According to some sources, the scheme of the generator looks like that the relatively heavy components of the phone (battery, radiotransmitter) are placed on a solid frame which will allow to move in two sets of rails – up and down or left and right. Piezoelectric crystals are located at the end of each track and generate electricity when you press the frame. Even minor vibrations or movements of the device are enough for gaining energy. This device works on the same principle, which is used in wrist watches, when the energy which is necessary for the work of the watch is generated when you move it around in space. In addition, the phones will be able to capture the energy of the scattered waves in space, regardless of their source, no difference whether it would be a microwave or a laptop. The company has already filed a patent application to the appropriate bureau of the USA. Nothing has been reported on the dates of release of this technology yet.. |

Nokia C6 Image – QWERTY Slider with Touch Screen(1) Some resources on the web have published an image of the second mobile device in a C series of Nokia . The model is called Nokia C6. It is a slider with touch screen and sliding QWERTY keyboard. Let us remind that the first smartphone of the line is called Nokia C5, it is a fairly simple device with a 2.2-inch display and numeric keypad. The device looks like a regular phone, though it is a smartphone under the control of Symbian S60 3rd Edition. Previously it was assumed that Nokia C6 is a device known on the web under the name Mystic: bar form factor with a horizontal screen and QWERTY keyboard. But it turned out, that this is not the case. Late in February, Nokia C6 model was certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and even then it was clear that this is just another device – longer and narrower than the previous model(judging from the sketch). The new image is more similar to it. The only specs of Nokia C6 known are 256 MB of memory and a microSD slot. It is assumed that the new product will be released in Europe in summer. However, the manufacturer has not released any information about the price of the device yet. |

Nokia Clarified its Share in Mobile Market(0) Nokia has clarified its share in the global mobile phones market according to results of 2009: 34%, not 38% as it had thought before, and this year it is unlikely to grow. This is stated in a report filed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange. The new evaluation was possible through the use of more rigorous methods of measuring the volume of deliveries. In particular, the activities of new small players and the illegal distribution channels were taken into account, on which Asian manufacturers of counterfeit are mostly oriented. The figures seem to be small, but considered together they significantly alter the picture. In spite of it, the estimation of the total amount of devices shipped in 2009 is reduced: 1.14 billion units instead of 1.26 billion. Though Nokia is not waiting to increase the number of handsets sold for 2010, the value of sales should increase slightly as compared with last year. However, the company did not give accurate measures this time. Nokia also upheld its previous forecast regarding the growth in the global market – 10%. |

Ovum Analysts Believe that Nokia is Behind Competitors(0) Analysts at Ovum came to the conclusion that the Finnish Nokia is noticeably behind its competitors in terms of performance. Many companies have made their choice in favor of ARM Cortex A8 processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon, neglecting ARM11. However, Nokia still uses the latter in its smartphones. The report says that Nokia phones need a little improvement in order to be more competitive. It is noted that only Nokia N900 is equipped with advanced processor (ARM Cortex-A8, 600 MHz), but Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini work with ARM11, the clock frequency of which is only 434 MHz. The amount of RAM in the most advanced models of Nokia is 256 MB, while our competitors have phones that offer twice more. HTC HD2 is brought as an example, working with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock frequency of 1000 MHz and equipped with 448 MB of RAM. The matter also concerns displays. Nokia currently prefers resistive screens, but most users prefer capacitive technology. There are about twenty devices in the market, equipped with high definition displays, while there is only one such device – again Nokia N900in the portfolio of the Finnish manufacturer. |

Nokia E72i: Chinese Version of E72(3)
A page with photos and a brief description of Nokia E72i model has appeared on the Chinese site of TENAA organization, dealing with certification of telecommunication equipment. Apparently, it is a version of the smartphone Nokia E72 (the name differs only by one character), designed specifically for sale in the Chinese market. The peculiarity of the smartphone Nokia E72i is the support for WAPI – Chinese implementation of wireless technology Wi-Fi. By appearance devices are not different – both are bar form factor phones with the horizontal QVGA display and a QWERTY keyboard. Presumably, there are no other differences between the characteristics of Nokia E72 and E72i, except WAPI. Most likely, the Chinese smartphone, as well as its international counterparts is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, accelerometer, GPS receiver, 250 MB of internal memory and support for third-generation cell networks and high-speed standard HSDPA. Nothing is yet known about the dates of release and the price of Nokia E72i. |

Nokia and Australian University New Mobile Application(0) Scientists of the Australian University together with Nokia have developed an application that enables mobile phones to “see through walls”. This is one of the realizations of the so-called augmented reality. The application is available in three versions – X-ray Vision, Meltvision and Distortvision. The sense of the application is in the fact that it will show the objects that are invisible to the user in reality, for example, are hidden around the corner or blocked by a wall. Three-dimensional terrain models will be used. As for the three versions of the application, they actually differ in the way they “cope” with objects hindering the review. Thus, X-ray Vision makes them transparent, Meltvision makes them “melt” and Distortvision distorts the image so that you can see objects invisible in reality. It is possible that after some time (probably not soon) Nokia mobile phones will have the support of this technology. |

Nokla N900 is Similar to Original Only by Appearance(0) The smartphone Nokia N900 only for 120$? It is possible, but only with a condition that it is not original Nokia, and collected on an unnamed Chinese factory Nokla. It is not only similar to the original by appearance in the folded position, but can boast with the pull-out keyboard. These are the only similarities of the phones, though. The screen of “nokla” measures only 3.2 inches, while the resolution is ludicrous – 320×240 pixels. Only the presence of two slots for SIM-cards may be mentioned as a plus, but almost every Chinese phone can boast with this qulity. And do not be deceived by “iPhone like” icons of the operating system – there is no trace of smartphone here, and from the additional programs you can install only Java-based applications. Of course, it is useless to try to find a driver for printer hp for such NOKLA N900. Actually, there is no optics from Carl Zeiss, 3G, 32 GB of memory and processor ARM Cortex A8. But the price is not bad without argument. |

Nokia Stealth and 82 Dragonfly Unique Concept Phones(0) It is always interesting to look at concepts of mobile phones as the fans of the brand try to reflect in them what they lack in commercial samples. Designer Reginald Shola Hingston drew a pair of concepts. One of the concepts can be appealing to fans of insects, while the second – to fans of military equipment. When creating Nokia Stealth the author was inspired from aircraft of Stealth type. According to him, the phone must be easy to use due to the shape and rubberized material. Nokia 82 Dragonfly from Hingston also got a keyboard with irregular shapes. However, classic motives of Nokia are easily recognized in the main features of the concept phone. The French designer does not introduce the specifications of Stealth and Dragonfly, you can create them on your own. |
