Nokia E73 will be Introduced Next Month Nokia E73 will be Introduced Next Month(1)

According to rumors from our American colleagues, the next Nokia smartphone of the Eseries line will be available for the network of T-Mobile USA in the coming month (June 16). The business collection will grow thanks to the Nokia E73 model (the commercial name is Nokia Mode).

Nokia E73 will develop the ideas of Nokia E72-the previous bar form factor with QWERTY-keyboard. The main focus is on e-mail and messaging. In the promotional material of E73 there is support for 3G and Wi-Fi. The smartphone is based on the Symbian version which has not been installed yet. The preference is apparently given to S60 3rd Edition.

Let’s remind that earlier Nokia has announced Nokia E5. The affordable business phone will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

New Ovi Maps: Faster, Better, More Personalized New Ovi Maps: Faster, Better, More Personalized(0)

In January of this year the “Ovi maps” have become free for new Nokia models. Within three months users have downloaded more than 10 million copies of the program and this is not the limit. The new version has recently been released.

According to the official statement, the new “Ovi maps”  application operates more quickly (quickly determines the position of users regardless of location), better (in collaboration with Lonely Planet, Michelin and the local “Yellow pages” new point of interest have been added, the Qype program has been included) and has become more personalized (function of recording voice commands).

Another important news concerns the completion of Nokia smartphones. A car charger and a car holder have been included in boxes with the N97, N97 mini, 6710 Navigator and X6 for already two weeks. Soon the 5800 XpressMusic, 5230, E52 and E72 will be completed with a car holder.

Nokia Music Store has All Chances to Beat Apple iTunes in Europe Nokia Music Store has All Chances to Beat Apple iTunes in Europe(0)

According to the analysts from comScore, only a quarter of European mobile users listen to music on their phones. At the same time people prefer to download audio tracks to mobile phones via computer, rather than through the gadget itself.

The 23.8% of residents of the five major European markets – Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany – use music player of their phones. The 20.3% of respondents use computers to supplement the audio library and only 1.9% consider easy to upload new music tunes through special applications of music stores that are included in the device.

European audiophiles more often use Apple iTunes (28%), but there are also quite a lot of people using Nokia Music Store (22%). About 4,300,000 people buy tracks in online stores. The Finnish giant has obviously all chances to surpass Cupertino at least here.

Unfortunately, less than 1 million users at the five required European markets have been looking forward to the launch of Music Store, when it opened in 2007.

Oddly enough, listening to mobile music is not a very popular idea, as it could be expected, especially even inexpensive cell phones are equipped with media player. In the U.S. that figure is even lower – 13.2%.

Nokia X3 and Nokia E52 Available in India Nokia X3 and Nokia E52 Available in India(1)

Nokia X3 and Nokia E52 mobile phones were announced by Nokia last year and have repeatedly appeared in our news. But both phones became available in the Indian mobile market only recently.

After all, the Indian market is very important for any manufacturer of cellular phones. This is especially important now, when India has been released from a niche previously occupied by Chinese phones. As you probably remember, now it is prohibited to sell these gadgets in India. Thus the emergence of Nokia X3 and Nokia E52 in India now is not by chance.

Nokia X3 is an inexpensive device based on S40 platform, having a 2.2-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.1, FM-tuner, dedicated keys for player control, 3.5-mm audio jack and a slot for MicroSD memory card.

Nokia X3 is likely to be sold in India within the frameworks of the Ovi Music Unlimited (former Comes With Music) program.

Nokia E52 is the successor of Nokia E51 and is a smartphone based on Symbian 9.3 S60 3rd Edition platform.

It contains an ARM 11 processor with 600 MHz clock frequency, 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 3.2 megapixel camera, QVGA-front camera, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11b / g, A-GPS, MicroUSB, FM-tuner with RDS, 3,5-mm audio jack, 60 megabytes of internal memory and a slot for MicroSD memory card (up to 16 gigibayt).

In India Nokia X3 will cost 165 dollars, and Nokia E52 will cost more expensive – 287 dollars.

Nokia will Make Satellite Navigation Accessible to Everybody Nokia will Make Satellite Navigation Accessible to Everybody(0)

Nokia has presented a new video of its global campaign “Highway”, that has started this spring. If the previous commercials of the campaign only informed that the Finnish phone manufacturer has made SatNav navigation service free to all users of smartphones of the company, the new video tells the reason of such an action.

In the 60-second video from Wieden + Kennedy the situations in recent past, when satellite navigation was a very expensive entertainment and in a mobile version it could be affordable for only a few people, was presented.

With the development of technologies more people have been able to use it, thus now Nokia wants to make satellite navigation accessible to all, and according to the video, it’s not just a business strategy aimed at attracting new customers but the company’s philosophy, expressed in the slogan “Connecting People”.

Harman and Nokia Develop a Smartphone and Car Computer Harman and Nokia Develop a Smartphone and Car Computer(0)

Harman and Nokia have announced that they were working together on a project to develop a standard of data transmission between smartphones and on-board computing devices of the car. These devices will exchange data on GPS navigation and media-data, information services and data from the device’s sensors. Thus, in case of a low balance of fuel in the tank the phone will be able to find the nearest gas station, and in case of necessity – to book a room at the nearest hotel.

It is also planned to bring in an expanded assistance to the drivers and inform them about safety in different situations. In addition, other applications of the smartphone will also be integrated with the computer of the car – thus, the car owners will be able to view the content of the smartphone on a big screen.

USB devices and Bluetooth have been selected as an interface to connect to various devices.

In spite of the participation of Nokia in the project, partners plan to establish an independent standard, which could be used by other manufacturers too.

Nokia N9 – N8 with QWERTY-keyboard? Nokia N9 – N8 with QWERTY-keyboard?(0)

Several months ago the image of Nokia N98 was published in the web. There was doubt that this is the usual concept of a fan having nothing to do with the actual phone. However, Nokia N8 has recently been presented, which design is similar to that of N98, that allows to argue about the existence of N98.

In addition to cut corners like in N8 the phone is notable for striking color solutions (N8 boasts of the same), the presence of the word Nokia, N00 index , an HDMI connector on the top and an interface reminding of Symbian ^ 3 in the press-release images of N8.

Nokia N98 will supposedly get 32 GB of internal memory (instead of 16 GB as in N8), 4” capacitive display (instead of 3.5” at N8), QWERTY keyboard. The camera of N8 operates at 12  megapixel resolution and can shoot HD-video. It is unknown which module will be used in for N98.

Taking into  the account the fact that Nokia has refused the old nomenclature (C3, C5, C6, X2, N8 have been presented in recent months) the powerful novelty with QWERTY-keyboard can be designated as Nokia N9.

New Nokia Flagships will Surpass iPhone and Android New Nokia Flagships will Surpass iPhone and Android(0)

After the announcement of Nokia N8 many people assumed that it would become the main phone of the company in 2010 – based on the new Symbian ^ 3, offering a 12 megapixel camera with HD-video recording and multi-touch. However, it is not true.

The head of Nokia Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, announced in the letter to investors that later this year the Finnish manufacturer will present a new generation of devices that will reduce the gap in the segment of high-end solutions. In other words, Nokia is determined to release smartphones that will have to surpass the top-end Android-devices and iPhone HD, preparing for the summer debut.

It has been suggested that one of the phones will be Nokia N9 – a side slider with specifications similar to N8. So far we have only a computer image of the smartphone.

Kallasvuo also said that there is a mobile computer in the operation – it will be based on MeeGo, joint platform of Nokia and Intel. The smartphones will be based on Symbian.
