Android Froyo Running on Nokia N900

by L.K. - on Jun 27th 2010 - No Comments

Can you imagine Nokia N900 running Android Froyo? Isn’t this device running on Maemo OS? Yes, it surely is. But for now some of the hackers got a chance to shift the operating system of Nokia device even before some of the real googlephones could get it. Just remember the Android 2.1 running on the device.

As it must be expected the integration is not that impressive. There are lots of features which are not working normally. The list includes the network signal, IP settings for the Wi-Fi connection, problems with MicroSD cards.

Well, let’s say that all of this is expected and typical for the non-Android device! Just enjoy the 6 minute video, which will demonstrate all of the pros and the cons of the test.

Nokia 6230 To Face Antenna Problems

by L.K. - on Jun 27th 2010 - 1 Comment

Feels like the newest device of the Apple- iPhone 4 is not as ideal as we wish it would be. The thing is that if you hold the device not at the lower left corner, you will get no reception. This is due to the fact that the user is simply covering the antenna reception point.

As pointed by Steve Jobs, the head of the Apple, this is not a typical Apple problem and thus you can always face up the problem on the rest of the device. And actually he’s right. After the announcement Nokia enthusiasts checked out the device Nokia  6230. It turned out that the device has the same exact problem with the reception.

Despite the fact that the video is not of that high quality but we still can see clearly how the antenna status goes down, while holding it not in the “most proper” way!

New Nokia Device with 8 MP Camera and QWERTY Keyboard

by L.K. - on Jun 27th 2010 - 1 Comment

Quite a strange image appeared on the Internet. On it there’s a smartphone from Nokia with a QWERTY-keyboard based, apparently, on Symbian OS.

The device has an 8 megapixel camera and seems to have the goal of taking the average price segment. It is unlikely that the phone will be released within the Nseries – despite the fact that such assumptions can be found in many western blogs. Just yesterday, Nokia announced that it will not release any Symbian-device in a series of N. And of course, the photo does not exactly look like N9 – after a 12 megapixel N8 the Finnish manufacturer would not be releasing an 8 megapixel gadget.

Phone looks more like a model for the Eseries. But despite it the visible badge of “C0″ – turns it into a representative of budget C-series. It is noteworthy that the model C0 is already announced in several models and is a very expensive candy bar. But according to the resource itself the device is simply an N9 which is less likely to be true.

Nokia.com Changing Its Design

by L.K. - on Jun 24th 2010 - No Comments

Nokia has demonstrated an updated design of its Web site. Despite the fact that the fresh design is available so far only in beta version, it looks a little bit strange.

Design has become somewhat more severe – and thus we can not say that it is easier. Interface has been changed and thus it became much clearer and more convenient. As a result the site now consists of only a few categories around which it’s virtually impossible to get confused.

In some of the places, the site became to look brighter. For example, the page describing the benefits of X-series has much advanced design.

The beta version of the updated site is already available. In the coming months, the entire Nokia portal must completely switch to using the new design.

Nokia N8- The Last N-Series Symbian Device?

by L.K. - on Jun 23rd 2010 - No Comments

It seems like Symbian will no longer be positioned by Nokia as the most technologically advanced mobile platform.

Nokia N8, the next flagship smartphone of the Finnish company might be the last device of N-series, based on the Symbian operating system. As it’s told by CNet resource the info became clear by the anonymous source in the Australian branch of Nokia.

In a broader sense, this news means that Nokia will stop producing headliners on Symbian; after all N-series has a specific structure – it is just a line of top gadgets equipped with the latest technological innovations.

The source also says that thinstead of Symbian the devices of N-series will be using MeeGo, the cooperate development of Nokia and Intel. The first smartphone on this operating system should be Nokia N9. Symbian will be used only in X and E series, i.e. models of the entertainment and business solutions. The old Series 40, in turn, will be preinstalled on all phones within these series.
