Nokia N8 vs. iPhone

by L.K. - on Jun 2nd 2010 - No Comments

It feels like for now Nokia N8 in the silver color scheme seems to be one of the best ones if compared with the rest of the offers. For now one of the device which is being compared a lot with the new flagship of Nokia is iPhone. While comparing the two devices, we might say that Nokia N8 is thinner than Apple iPhone, while the second one is a little bit wider.

Well, of course iPhone has more rounded edges. Of course everything will change, when on June 7th the new iPhone version will be announced. So for now let’s just watch the most recent photo gallery of that exact silver version of Nokia N8.

Nokia N8 USB-Hosting

by L.K. - on Jun 2nd 2010 - No Comments

While the modern devices exceed the computers of fifteen year age with the performance, they have a significant drawback: with a few exceptions the phones can not connect accessories, operating on the USB. This omission, according to the video, will be eliminated in the new model of Nokia.

Micro-USB port of the Nokia N8 device based on the operating system Symbian ^ 3 will include the function of USB-hosting. This means that the smartphone will be able to get connected to flash drives, external hard drives and other phones, which enable the Mass Storage.

Also N8, in theory, could be connected to USB-accessories (eg, the keyboard and mouse), but for that they might need to have a special software. USB-hosting function, despite its obvious usefulness, is rare thing for the devices. It used to function on some of the Windows Mobile devices issued a few years ago. They can easily connect not only to a flash, but a keyboard and a mouse.

Introduced in late April, the new flagship smartphone Nokia N8 is now available for pre-order in the German unit of the online store Amazon, moreover, with the issue price of 469.50 Euros (about $ 587). Agree, not too expensive for the mobile device with a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and autofocus, as well as the ability to record video with 720p.

Automatic Charging for Nokia Batteries

by L.K. - on Jun 2nd 2010 - No Comments

Finnish company Nokia, which is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic devices on the market, has applied for the patent of invention, which allows the battery of electronic equipment to stay charged for a while. So far, specialists have completed a conceptual option for a mobile phone, but later offered technology can be used to recharge the cameras, laptops and other gadgets.

In the framework of the invention is the idea of using natural vibrations in order to recharge electronic devices. The battery and cell phone housings are mounted with rigid frame, and between them  a number of piezoelectric elements are placed. During the natural vibrations (i.e. when the owner of the phone goes to transport, is walking or simply dials the subscriber’s number) the piezoelectric elements on the surface are creating a charge of electricity, which is being sent to the battery charge. However, the inventors point out that at this stage of development is impossible to completely abandon the battery charging loss, but their innovative is able to prolong the interval of autonomous operation of the electronic device.

When a new technology will find its practical application, whether the invention will be in demand, is not clear. The idea of creating such devices is not new. At one time, there were beetle- lanterns with built-in dynamo machines.

What fate awaits innovation from Nokia – time will tell.
