Nokia X7 vs Nokia N8 in Video(0) The Nokia X7 is one of the smartphones of the Finnish company launched in the U.S. We have said for many times that the main advantage of this phone is Symbian Anna that won the hearts of many geeks who earlier disliked all the Nokia smartphones as they were running on Symbian^3. Anyway, the Nokia X7 became very popular recently, and this video is quite expected. Of course, the Nokia X7 can’t be compared with the Nokia N8 as the last one is the most popular handset of the manufacturer due to its 12MP camera that can do almost anything you want, i.e. shot any video and photo in any situation. Well, we know about the Nokia N8′s camera too much, and talk about it every day, and this overshadows other worthy handsets of Nokia, like the Nokia X7. This device is designed especially for gaming, but it isn’t similar to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play as we are dealing with a super smartphone with “universal” features. The video shows the phone from different angles demonstrating the whole charm of the X7, and I have to thank Jade Bryan who provides many interesting videos lately. target=”_blank”>Source |

Nokia E7 for $406 from Amazon(0) The Nokia E7 is one of the best high-end devices based on Symbian OS. That’s why even despite of its high price the device has witnessed quite an impressive rate of sales. Amazon, which is one of the main retailers selling the device, is offering a price cut for its customers. Now you can get the Nokia E7 for only $406 in contrast to the earlier $670. You’ll save $273! This offer is only applicable for the silver color option of the device. Well, I think the silver version of the Nokia E7 looks good, and paying this less for the slide-out Symbian is an awesome opportunity. So you better hurry up! The Nokia E7 is equipped with a super large 4-inch display with ClearBlack functionality, which allows to view brighter and more enhanced colors. The Symbian^3 OS brings in fast web-browsing and great UI to work with the applications. In addition the device sports an 8MP camera with dual LED flash, easy email setup and GPS Navigation. |

Photos by Nokia 700 Zeta Leaked in Flickr(0) Not much is known about the Nokia 700 yet. Less than a month ago we learned about four upcoming Nokia smartphones with Symbian Belle and 1GHz processors, and the Nokia 700, also known as the Nokia Zeta, was one of them. Then some specs and pics of the smartphone leaked. Now we have news about this upcoming smartphone again! A couple of photos taken by the Nokia 700 have leaked in Flickr. Have a look at them: And the second one: There pics seem to have been taken in Padstow, England. Their size is 1024×768 pixels (pic 1, pic 2), but obviously it’s not their original size, since the Nokia 700 is rumored to come with a 5MP camera, and the photos taken by such a camera are usually larger… at least twice larger! So these pics were most likely resized and made smaller, perhaps to fit the restrictions of Flickr (original high-resolution photos can be downloaded only to a Pro account). What else do we know about the specs of this Nokia 700 Zeta? The smartphone will be equipped with a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 640×360 resolution. It also has NFC connectivity, Wi-Fi b/g/n and HSPA. The battery is rather weak – 1080mAh only, but there is a chance that Nokia will replace it with a more powerful one before announcing the smartphone officially. |

Nokia N9 Available from Mobile Fun Soon(0) According to the mobilefun, the Nokia N9 will be distributed in the UK by outlet retailers. This means that even if there are no chances for the UK customer to get the device via mobile operators, the customers will be able to get the device and get a contract afterwards. The smartphone is going to be available with a price of 519. 95GBP (around $857). The availability date of the handset, however, is not announced yet: “Here at Mobile Fun, we’re happy to say that we will be offering the handset, unlocked and sim free, in the very near future.” The online retailer store is also offering Play 360 NFC Bluetooth speakers. I guess it will be really fun to get the Nokia N9 and to connect the Bluetooth speakers. You will not only get the chance to have music playing 360 degree with NFC-enabled devices, but also connect two devices at the same time. Can’t wait to hear more about the Nokia N9 and the retailer stores that will be offering this awesome MeeGo-based handset. |

Luxury Vertu to Run Windows Phone?(0) I guess there aren’t many people in the world who haven’t heard about Vertu. It’s the subsidiary brand of Nokia that manufactures luxury phones made using materials like gold, sapphire, rubies and fine leather. Almost everyone wants to have a Vertu phone, even though all these luxury devices run Symbian and can’t boast any high-end features. Maybe everyone wants and loves Vertu devices because of their price — the cheapest Vertu phone costs about $5,770, and we people love luxury things Anyway, there are rumors that at least one of the features of Vertu phones will be improved – the new models will run Windows Phone instead of Symbian OS. According to @UVStaska’s tweet, it seems like Vertu will really start using Microsoft’s WP OS, since Nokia won’t continue working with Symbian for a long time, and most likely its new cooperation with Microsoft will spread over Vertu, too. I can’t imagine a WP-based Vertu yet, since their phones have never had touchscreen displays… But anyway, I think using WP in Vertu devices is a good idea. At least people who pay thousands of dollars for a luxury phone can look to a decent operating system instead of Symbian… |

Symbian Anna Available for Nokia Handsets(1) I have already written about Symbian Anna and the fact that it will come to four Nokia smartphones soon. Now I would like to inform you — it is available! The update is really different from Symbian^3 and is worth being downloaded, moreover your Nokia N8, C7, E7 and C6-01 can be updated over-the-air, which is a far more comfortable way than updating via PC. So nothing prevents you from bringing your smartphone to a new level. The Anna update brings such improvements as a portrait QWERTY keyboard, plus you can split the screen while typing which lets you check out web pages, forms and threads as you type. Plus, the update provides better Ovi Maps with public transportation routes searches. I think it will be very useful, so it’s one of the main advantages of Symbian Anna. As the updateable phones differ from each other, different kinds of improvements come with the update. We have talked about it, too, and as the Nokia E7 is a business smartphone, the update must include appropriate features. It provides new business features bringing meeting request support to email, hardware-accelerated encryption of data, and secure intranet access for the users who need IPSEC and SSL VPN enablers. You probably remember that the Nokia C7 supports NFC functionality, and once you update your C7, the functionality will be activated. Unfortunately, the U.S. consumers can’t update their phones, since because of Nokia’s latest strategy Symbian Anna is not available in the U.S. Anyway, European users have no reason to worry, as the following countries are the first to get Symbian Anna, the others will get in the coming three weeks:

Nokia N800: Is It Sea Ray?(0) Elbert Perez is a game developer who creates games for devices based on Windows Phone. That’s why it’s rather reasonable for him to have a list of devices in advance to make the game more specific based on the features of those devices. While making up his list, Elbert included an interesting device the Nokia 800. If we remember the new naming strategy of Nokia, we’ll see that this is going to be the most high-end and the most expensive device of Nokia — the higher the first number of the device is, the higher price you pay for it. There’s a chance that this mysterious Nokia 800 is actually the so-called Nokia Sea Ray, as so far we don’t really know the name of the device after the rebranding of the names, and it’s still the main leaked WP handset from Nokia. Have a look at the list of the devices once again — you’ll notice a lot of new names and codenames. The list includes HTC, LG, Samsung, Asus and even Acer handsets. |

Win Pink Nokia N8 at Next Style Correspondent(0) I guess you are aware the New York Fashion Week is the world’s first organized fashion week with its roots going back to 1943. Though it had another goal during the first years (the event was designed to attract attention away from French fashion during World War II, when fashion industry insiders were unable to travel to Paris to see French fashion shows — WikiPedia), now it is another kind of presentation where all popular, glamorous and stunning news of the fashion world are gathered. The Pink Nokia N8 will be there, too. Nokia+Elle is a part of the Next Style Correspondent contest where will be raffled the most PINK phone in the world with its 12MegaPINKsel camera. Generally, the pink Nokia N8 differs from the original N8 by several special apps, and it’s really a great idea to be there and win one. The competition is now completed, and if you wish to meet the finalists, visit Nokia’s Facebook page. “Pinkomania” is spreading, and as a result we have many people possessed with pink devices. Now the current obsession for many women is the pink Nokia N8. It really has its own place in the pink world. |

Symbian Belle for Nokia N8 Leaked(0) I think the Nokia N8 will remain the most popular smartphone of the company until Windows Phone-powered handsets are launched. The N8 sports many awesome features; the only thing that was criticized much was Symbian^3 OS, but as you are aware the phone will be updated to Symbian Anna before the end of this month, and then no one will be able to vilify it because this update makes the OS much, much cooler. Do you imagine what a beast the Nokia will turn into after Symbian Belle? Now I have some gladsome news for you as Symbian Belle update files have leaked for the N8, and those are not just rumors, as we have the video demonstrating its abilities. As you see the Belle update seems to be real, the instructions are simple, too, but it has some issues that will be fixed before its launch. Some users reported problems with the OVI Store, Skype, some widgets and so on. Regardless these problems, Symbian Belle will be rather competitive with iOS and Android. For example, it has a pull-down notification bar and minimalistic signage with a back button — looks great. Of course, we’ll get more information about the goodies coming with Belle, but it is Anna’s turn now, so do not hurry. |

Google Buys Motorola… How Will This Affect Nokia and Others?(0) Google has announced about its decision to buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion a few days ago, and currently everyone is speaking about this. Why does Google need Motorola that much? What will it get from this deal? And how will this acquisition affect the other smartphone manufacturers like Nokia, HTC, Samsung and others? First of all, according to experts, this acquisition will boost Google’s Android OS’s growth in the smartphone market. Second, it can solve many of the patent problems Google has with Microsoft and Apple at the moment. There is also an opinion that this deal will help Google defend the Android ecosystem, too, writes news.brothersoft.com. So the acquisition will give Google a number of new opportunities and seems to be really beneficial. However, Stephen Elop, Nokia’s current CEO, is sure that if Google starts giving preference to Motorola, it will have a really negative impact on the other manufacturers working on Android-based smartphones (like HTC or Samsung). “If I happened to be someone who was an Android manufacturer or an operator, or anyone with a stake in that environment, I would be picking up my phone and calling certain executives at Google and say ‘I see signs of danger ahead’,” he said during an event in Helsinki, Finland. Larry Page, Google’s chief executive, said that the acquisition of Motorola will not give the latter any special advantages compared to other Android-based smartphone manufacturers – Motorola will be run “as a separate business,” and Android will remain an open platform. Even if Google says so, there is still a chance that Google will prefer Motorola to make the next Nexus device, which will be unfair to the other manufacturers. Andy Rubin, Android chief, however, said that this deal was not going to impact the Nexus program. “We select, around Christmas-time each year, a manufacturer to release a phone. After the acquisition, Motorola will be a part of that bidding process and lead device process,” he said. If Google isn’t careful enough and if it really gives preference to Motorola to make the next Nexus, this can anger the other Android-phone manufacturers, and they can abandon Android in favor of Windows Phone or any other OS. In this situation Elop, Nokia’s CEO, thinks that Nokia has made a wise decision to choose Windows Phone over Android. Well, maybe Nokia’s cooperation with Microsoft will be more stable, and if something goes wrong with Google and its cooperation with its partners, it will give WP and Nokia a chance to become very popular in a short period of time. |
