Nokia N8 Free Themes Nokia N8 Free Themes(0)

What are the best ways to upgrade and decorate your device? Well, games and applications are among the most popular means, while some still consider that a great theme is the best way to decorate your smartphone, especially if it’s a Nokia N8.

You can download many interesting themes from the Ovi Store. But now I would like to speak about the top 3 themes that are available simply for free and are no less pretty than the paid ones.

Angry Shark

This theme is rather bright — with a white shark floating in blue water. The icons of the menu are also ‘painted’ with impressive colors, while the overall scheme is not changed.

Dark Green Wood

Regardless the name, the theme doesn’t seem to be too bright. The background of it is in dark, dark green, and resembles black wood. Anyway, the silver and green icons look rather elegant on it. I think the color contrast looks just amazing and it will be an ideal theme for businessmen and business ladies.

DeepBlu

This theme is too crazy to be left there. The blue comes in a variety of shades making the theme more interesting. It cannot be called an easy-on-eye. There’s just no way of getting used to the theme. The icons of the theme come up in lighter and softer color in contrast to the aggressive background.

The themes can be downloaded from Ovi Stores.

Nokia X7 – Designed for Gaming Nokia X7 – Designed for Gaming(0)

The competition between the Nokia X7 and the Nokia N8 is getting tougher each day. But I think this competition is senseless, since the Nokia N8 is basically designed to provide a detailed “capture” of the world with the help of the powerful camera. And the Nokia X7 is a good entertainment gadget the features of which are mainly used to watch videos and to play games.

Gaming

Playing the top games like Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds is simply a pleasure. This doesn’t mean that the game functions are more enhanced, of course! Just the Nokia X7′s larger display offers you a greater gaming experience. Some claim that a large screen is the best way to score in these games and that the earlier models’ smaller screens were not allowing to gain the desired points.

Music Player

The music player is just awesome. The stereo speakers of the device provide rich and full sound experience. Sometimes you can’t even believe that the sound comes from a simple smartphone. The loudspeakers of the device are created with the help of the most advanced technologies, thus even your ringtone sounds effective. So you can surprise your friends not only with the presence of the latest tracks in your smartphone but also with the way they sound.

Videos/Movies

The device provides 720p video playback — very good for a smartphone. The 4 inch display allows to see all of the desired details of the video. The only thing that makes me sad is that this is just a smartphone and there’s no way of getting any larger screen.

Nokia C5 Review Nokia C5 Review(0)

I am sure many Nokia devotees have a strong sympathy towards the Nokia C5 handset and especially for you guys I come along with a short Nokia C5 review. The Nokia C5 the first smartphone in the C-series with S60 3rd edition OS on the board.

This  model packs a 3.2 megapixel camera with a LED flash, features a 2.2 inches screen display, with the  resolution of 240×320 pixels, has 3.5 gigabytes of internal memory, GPS, Card microSD, player, audio jack 3,5 mm, FM radio, USB and Bluetooth. However this model does not support the Wi-Fi facility.

The Nokia C5 is just the thing for social networking,  Symbian S60 3rd Edition, includes support for Facebook and instant messaging but the phone has only an optimal set of modules of data transmission: Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS, is EDGE and GPRS.

The Nokia C5 camera serves more for entertainment than for a serious photographic work. The unit is equipped with a budget 3.2-megapixel camera with a LED-flash.

The number pad is relatively large and provides comfortable typing on the alphanumeric keypad.

But  one of the pluses of the Nokia C5 is its price and therefore, we can quite confidently say that Nokia C5 will find its audience among those who wish to acquire Nokia brand handset.

Nokia C3-01 Touch And Type Camera Review Nokia C3-01 Touch And Type Camera Review(0)

We have talked quite a lot about the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type and its specs, but still I am sure many want to be informed about its camera possibilities.

Seems like Nokia N8 super duper 12-Megapixel put the other cameras in shame, but 5 million pixels camera is no joke either!

The Nokia C3 Touch and Type  has a 5-Megapixel camera and be sure that this is enough to reproduce stunningly detailed photographs. Facts speak louder than words and we offer to take a look at the the photographs displayed below.

Although the pixel quantity does not allow it to have quality poster size pics as they will be noisy, Nokia C3-01 Touch And Type camera can easily handle anything up to A4 size.

Color tones are quite natural and you won’t worry about oversaturation, though many modern smartphones lame at this.
As can be seen the Nokia C3-01 performs better in daylight than in darker conditions with flash on.

You can experiment with the Nokia C3 Touch and Type camera settings, applying white balance, greyscale and sepia, or shift between portrait or landscape modes.  Nokia hasn’t even forgot to implement a self timer on the Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type, with 3, 5 or 10 second timers, so you can easily make self portraits.  What a fun!

Concluding we can say that Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type’s camera is quite satisfactory and overall Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type  is a perfect budget and quality solution!

Comparison Nokia E7 vs Nokia N8 Comparison Nokia E7 vs Nokia N8(3)

With the appearance of Nokia E7 everyone perceived it as a  Nokia N8 clone, enhanced with Qwerty keyboard. To some extent it is true but this got us even more confused while make a final choice. So in this post i will try to highlight the differences between these devices.

The Nokia E7 is in fact very similar to the N8, actually they look like twins, the differences are found only in some nuances. Both of them run on Symbian ^3, are HDMI-capable, pack the same processors and amount of RAM.

Regarding the size the Nokia E7  is larger and heavier than its twin brother. As it is known both handsets have a  built-in memory of 16 GB, however the N7 lacks a MicroSD slot.

The camera is another difference between mentioned handsets: Nokia  N8 features a 12-megapixel camera , meanwhile the  Nokia E7 is enhanced with a a 8-megapixel camera,  although both of them perform quite well.

The handsets did not differ so much regarding other specs, here is a brief introduction to the phones.

Nokia E7 is an excellent smartphone that runs on a platform of Symbian ^ 3 with an ARM 11 680Mhz, equipped with AMOLED-display reflecting up to 16 million color and a 8 Mpx camera , which enables to take pictures with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 px. The Nokia E7 supports  EDGE, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, and, of course, USB-port. For music lovers there is a 3.5mm audio output.

Nokia N8 – the first smartphone from Nokia, working on a new platform Symbian ^ 3, it features a 3.5 inch touch-sensitive AMOLED-display with the extension of 640 x 360 pixels. The Nokia N8 boasts with a 12-megapixel camera enhanced with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash. The N8 is a portable entertainment center, and therefore has a 16 GB internal memory and supports microSD cards up to 32 GB. If you decide to buy a Nokia N8, you can also use EDGE, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, GPS-receiver, 3.5mm audio output and a complete set of  Ovi services.

Now to sum up take a look at the list comparison:

Nokia C6-01 vs. HTC G2 Nokia C6-01 vs. HTC G2(0)

The Q3 was very successful for two mobile giants – HTC and Nokia, as they launched cool collections of high-end and mid-range smartphones. The Taiwanese company released its WP7 series lined up as  HTC HD7, HTC Mozart 7, HTC 7 Trophy, HTC 7 Surround, HTC 7 Pro and Android powered HTC G2, while the finish company comes with its Symbian powered smartphones like Nokia N8, E7, C7, C6-01 and others. All these phones made a fuss in mobile world, but one of the most rumored smartphones of the companies were the Nokia C6-01 and the HTC G2, and I decided to compare them to find out what features they have got and why there were so many criticisms. You can also check out the HTC G2 review here, as i will focus on Nokia’s unit.

OS

At first let’s look at the OS the phones run, the Nokia C6-01 works on Symbian^3 platform, which is the main competitor of the Windows Phones 7 OS. The C6-01’s OS offers better graphic than its earlier versions due to the new architecture, its interface is too quick and more fashionable, it is also very programmable allowing the users to make their phones unique. The Nokia’s newest operating system supports a multitouch ability which helps to do more difficult tasks, for example you can type a letter holding the virtual shift key. The next advantages of the Symbian^3 is HDMI output and the C6-01’s owners can watch their device’s photos or videos on TV. The “Here and now” protocol offers easy to use web services related on the user’s current location. The networking apps are very popular these days, and it is such important to support apps like One-Click Connectivity, which is provided by Symbian^3. And of course I can’t speak about Qt which is more comfortable platform to write apps, as it’s a cross-platform application framework used for developing application software with GUI.

The T-Mobile G2 comes with Android 2.2 (Froyo), it can’t be slower or work on the same speed as faster OS is just a necessity for current mobile market. This OS provides faster working as the apps run on a different layer than other OS. As Google promised, it has 2x faster performance compared to the older versions. The operating system supports Adobe Flash and Adobe Air which is a great advantage for the version. The Android 2.2 based phones can search the Android Marketplace directly from Quick Search, and also it allows the users to install apps on the SD card automatically. The apps are updated by one-touch button or you can stream music from your desktop. But I think the WiFi Hotspot is the most exciting thing of the OS.

The OS’s are one of the main features of the smartphones and this is why this brunch is developed so quickly. Symbian^3 and Android 2.2 are the latest versions of their types and they are the best versions ever developed.

Camera

The G2 can capture with 5MP camera with autofocus lens and single LED flash, it also supports for 720p video recording. The camera look very good in practice and especially the color balance is good if a little washed out, but there is a problem with low-light settings. Though the camera can record videos in 720p, but it can suffer from artifacting like other HTC phones which use low bitrate. The HTC G2’s camera interface is stock Froyo and can be shared with the Nexus One, but the Sense interface features tap-to-focus which is more useful. So we can consider that the camera is very good in many conditions but it is not the best solution for this phone, as the screen even washes out in direct sunlight.

The Nokia C6-01 features 8MP camera at the back with autofocus and dual LED flash like the G2, but what is interesting there is no mention of a Carl Zeiss lens through. This is one of the Nokia’s “Camera Phones” lines and it must be good in shooting cases. The camera has got many imaging controls and settings, other camera features are below:

  • Photo & Video Geo Tagging
  • Red Eye Removal
  • Face Tracking
  • Auto Motion Blur Reduction
  • Dedicated Camera Key
  • Video Recorder
  • Video Light

Internals (processor, battery, display)

Nokia’s last smartphones come with faster processors than other manufacturers’ smartphones do, I guess its main reason is related with the fact Symbian^3 is on step back from Android and WP7, so it had to equip its devices with faster CPUs to cover the holes. The Nokia C6-02 runs an ARM 11 680 MHz processor equipped with 3D Graphics HW accelerator. This is a great deal for this phone because comparing with G2 which runs Qualcomm MSM 7230 800 MHz processor, it provides enough quick working and switching between the apps.

The screen of the HTC G2 is a little larger than the C6’s one, so you can get more pleasant viewing on the G2’s 3.7 inch display, while 3.2 inch is less for the second smartphone. The both displays own Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate ability, but the G2 offers such features as Optical trackpad and Swype text input which are more useful, accept it!

What surprised me, that these phones’ batteries come with super offer; the T-Mobile G2 sports standard Li-Ion 1300mAh battery providing up to 430 h (2G) / Up to 430 h (3G) in stand-by mode and Up to 9 h 50 min (2G) / Up to 6 h 40 min (3G) talk-time, while the C6-01 is equipped with Li-Ion 1050mAh (BL-5CT) battery, which is enough good too, and offers Up to 408 h (2G) / Up to 372 h (3G) for stand-by mode or Up to 11 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 4 h 30 min (3G) for talk-time, and even Up to 50 h of music play.
