Microsoft Office + Nokia Microsoft Office + Nokia(0)

Nokia and Microsoft had signed a strategic agreement, in the result of which smartphones Finnish manufacturer will come with Microsoft Office package of applications.

It is easy to guess that this agreement is a response step against the significantly increased competition in the market of mobile devices. This agreement will help Microsoft Company keep the market of mobile devices, as the supplier of software, while Nokia company will become more attractive to corporate users by integrating Microsoft Office package of applications to their devices.
The importance of this agreement underscores the fact that Microsoft will license Office Mobile for a platform other than Windows Mobile / Phone for the first time. A teleconference will take place later, which will be attended by Nokia Executive Vice President, Kai Oistamo and president of Microsoft Business Division, Stephen Elop.

Wireless Power Consortium + Nokia Wireless Power Consortium + Nokia(0)

Wireless Power Consortium Organization was established late last year. It includes such well-known manufacturersas ConvenientPower, Duracell, Hosiden, Leggett & Platt, National Semiconductor, Olympus, Philips, Samsung, Sanyo, Shenzhen Sangfei Consumer Communications, ST-Ericsson and Texas Instruments. Their aim is to create a wireless Qi charger, which can charge mobile phones and portable media players, and later larger devices: laptops, MID, Tablet PCs.
The director of the research and development division of Nokia, Markku Verkama, said: “Wireless Technology charge carries a considerable potential. Users expect ease of use and more compatible mobile devices. Joining Wireless Power Consortium, the Nokia Company will continue to support open standards, designed to meet the expectations of consumers. Wireless Power Consortium is the first serious attempt by the leading manufacturers to agree on wireless technology charging.

Nokia 6208 Classic: Simple Phone with Touch Screen Nokia 6208 Classic: Simple Phone with Touch Screen(0)

The touchable screened mobile phones became a great admiration in China. Thus Nokia 6208 Classic has just been created for the Asian market, although it has not been officially confirmed yet. However, comparing with Nokia N97 or Nokia 5800, created on the base of the Symbian 9.4 S60 5th Edition, 6208 Classic is a regular phone having an interface of S40.
Nevertheless, Nokia 6208 is equipped with a touch screen display measuring 2.8 inches and with the handwriting’s detection. Although it remains as a common mono-block with a standard keyboard.

Key Features of Nokia 6208 classic:
• Quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE

Nokia N78 Nokia N78(0)

Truly, the appearance of the N-series handset has never been considered attractive. It is rather associated with the aerodynamic weight of the formula 1 fireballs, which is kind of scary, but obviously achieves the maximum results. “Chronic diseases” of N-series drift away with an enviable constancy from one model to another. This primarily concerns to the size and the weight. As for the Nokia N78 it will refer to the indicators of 113x49x15.1 mm and of 102 grams of a selected plastic. Comparing to its other competitors of the line (N73, N82), it looks more advantageous, thinner and lighter.

It’s said that the N78 carries the standard of the N-series display. It is distinctive by its modern performance and the high consumer possibilities. In other words, 2.4-inch screen displays up to 16 million colors (24 bit) and has a QVGA resolution (240×320 pixels).

Built-in light sensor saves the power of the battery by controlling the backlight keyboard and the display brightness.

However, in any mode, the information is not only readable but also comfortable to work with. In case you are not satisfied with the proposed automatic settings, you can set the assignment manually.

With its quality screen, the phone becomes more usable for watching videos and surfing the Internet, not to mention the other more simple tasks (showing up to 8 text and 3 service lines). In addition, the font size is configurable. And although it is more a property platform, the display also looks great on that background.

Menu and Functions

When Nokia N95 emerged, a very interesting phone in all its senses, it was even more fun to keep track of its followers. Later on, some devices began to appear with the functions partly borrowed from N95, and later almost complete counterparts. So N78 can be worth saying to be the successor of the ideas embodied in the N95. However, the new product wouldn’t be as it was, if not the already mentioned feature of N78 in the Feature Pack 2.

This is not just a cosmetic upgrade of S60, but a serious improvement, and in some cases almost a complete processing of features of the platform. It’s simply enough to list the new elements to make it clear what work has already been done. The Interface has been worked out (labels on the main screen can be hidden, and placed vertically or horizontally, the contact picture is displayed on the entire screen during the incoming and the outgoing calls, animation, menus, and so on), the multimedia menu, phonebook, messages, calendar, and so forth.

Photo and video galleries

The usual gallery in the new version of the operating system has been replaced by the capture of “Photos” allowing working more conveniently with the snapshots stored in the phone memory.

The snapshots are sorted by months, albums and geometers. The last innovation is mostly interesting. If the corresponding function is enabled in the camera’s menu, when taking a picture, a location label is added, and later on it can be viewed on the map where the picture is taken. This can be also viewed in Sony Ericsson C702i, C902 and Samsung G810 mobile phones.

With the help of the new application, working with the photos was not only easier but also faster. “Carousel menu” allows you to view more photos, and also have an easier navigation.

Communicational possibilities

In connection with the outside worlds Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR takes its place in the Nokia N78 (with support of Stereo Audio or AD2P), plug Micro USB (USB 2.0 High-Speed), WLAN adapter 802.11b / g. Internet access is carried out by means of HSDPA, WCDMA, EGPRS (EDGE), GPRS, HSCSD, CSD. Today it is the most comprehensive set of communicational possibilities. It is also worth mentioning the 3.5 mm headphone jack and AV-out. Well that’s for the fans.

The Wi-Fi Wizard can monitor the available networks in the background. The phone checks the possibility of the working web sites before the network falls into the list of the available ones.

In case in the stored group of points (for example, “Airport”) which web site was previously available, but now appeared unavailable, the phone automatically tries all the given points. Unfortunately, as happened before, the abolition of the connection with the point is able to drive the phone in complete stupor, until the restart of the device through a transient disconnection of the battery. Similar problems occur during loading the pages via a built-in internet browser (by the way, as always, it has a very high quality).

Music

The music possibility of N78 nowadays is the collection of everything available on the market of mobile phones. All of them are collected in the corresponding menu. One of the interesting features noted is the FM-transmitter. After activating it at a certain frequency, one can listen to the audio collection of the phone on any receiver. With the guests or even in the car, this simply would brighten up the entertainment. However, in the case of the N78, somehow the power of the transmitter slipped up. That is, in a car, equipped with Kenwood high-quality tape recorder and external antenna on the front desk, catching the phone can only be in a blast. Frustrating! As a result, listening to the music was almost impossible.

Other possibilities are presented in a music player supporting lots of formats. There is a built-in FM-Radio (Visual Radio), Internet radio (using Wi-Fi), podcasting, and music shop.

Camera

The camera installed in the N78 can be called a logical continuation of the module in Nokia N73. This primarily concerns to the increase of sensitivity – F2.8/4.6 against F2.8/5.6 in N73.

A small, but quite a progressive step forward is connected with Carl Zeiss optics which increases the quality of photos. The module itself, if we talk in numbers, has enough standards for this kind of device: 3.2-megapixel CMOS-matrix with autofocus, the minimum focusing distance of 10 cm.

Shooting modes are available in the Print 3M – Large (2048×1536), Print 2M – Large (1600×1200), Print / e-mail 0.8M – Small (1024×768), Multimedia message 0.3M (640×480), the size of received files ranges from 1MB to 100KB respectively . Supported formats include JPEG / Exif.

Conclusion

The new N78 device, nowadays, in terms of program plans, is the most advanced software solution from Nokia. Unfortunately, from both sides of that model enclose the veteran model N73 and relatively new N82, similar to the functional set, and occasionally exceeding N78. In many respects the choice is reinforced by the high price of N78, again in comparison with the previous models. Absolutely in favor of the new items plays a great role the nice design, the new operating system, the high positioning of the manufacturer. As for models from other manufacturers, here the N78 is in impressive isolation, with nothing to compare with.

The Battery of BL-6F with the capacity of 1200 mAh allows N78 to carry on in the night mode, the active use of the Internet (2 hours), GPS (3 hours) and additional features and a small (up to 30 minutes) of talk time. This is quite a serious indicator for a phone of this class. More tender treatment N78 battery will be discharged in 2-3 days.

As a result, N78 can be named as a great gift to all the fans of serious techniques. Smartphone turned out to be good, but should compare its requirements, and in case most of the functions of the new phone are left out, it should be thought over the other phones of Nseries.

Nokia 5730 XpressMusic Nokia 5730 XpressMusic(0)

Enjoy music, messaging, games and transferring files with this excellent Nokia 5730 XpressMusic mobile phone. Use the Nokia Music application for the PC to fill the 8 GB microSD memory card with music, to manage playlists, and then play them through dedicated keys (requires a compatible PC). Enjoy quality sound through the headset or use your own headphones with AV-jack of 3,5 mm. Battery power is for up to 25 hours of music playback. Use the main screen to keep the events of your friends, update profiles, check and quickly open a link and all your media files. Make pictures with 3.2-megapixel camera and then upload your photos and videos on the Internet.
Nearly perfect mix of convenient aggregator of text communication and music box is embodied in the form of a smartphone on the popular S60 platform. Nokia 5730 Xpress Music is an analog of E75 business model, which is simplified from the outside and is a little bit cheaper.

The design of Nokia 5730 remains flexible and convenient for text communications. However, the uniqueness is elusively away from any comparison with those of similar value like 5800 XM and future 5900, so this smartphone looks more futuristic, rather than polished and finished one.
The size of the smartphone is a little larger than the usual monoblocks, however, you cannot call it large and robust, because the ratio of 111,7 x 51,4 x 16,5 mm looks quite comfortable and will apparently appeal to the majority of young men. It is also quite handy, gratifying the user with its matched glossy and matte sidewalls of the rear cover of a convex shape. The weight of 118 grams is also quite comfortable, leaving no comments.
In pursuit of revealing the functionality and the style of XpressMusic, the manufacturer put all kinds of buttons and sensors on the surface of the mobile phone. Here, the earpiece hole is adjacent to the front VGA-camera and the ambient light sensor, and two rocker gaming keys are placed under it.

Since the area of the smartphone is not flamboyant, then just below the upper part of the area begins the 2.4-inch TFT-screen with a traditional 240 x 320 pixels and no less than the traditional 24-bit color palette. The image on the screen will not disappoint the user with its black and the most natural muted colors. Those compliant of getting a wide range of brightness would be amazed how organically the minimum brightness looks in the pitch dark, and the contrast pampers gaze at the sun. The phone is more related to the leaders, while soft protective plastic is liable to collect a lot of small scratches.

On the left of the screen you can easily notice three vertically mounted player buttons that allow you to control playback when running player. Quite logical, as pressing the buttons makes it easier and more enjoyable. It stands the same for describing the classic keypad below the screen, only the menu and the removing button is almost indistinguishable from the adjacent flat keys of receiving / hanging and soft keys. Meanwhile, in the center, the navigation button is pressed much more easily, and at the first glance it seems that its short course is only an illusion, but in fact it is a sensory playground. An external block is not only simple, but striking, because schematic of the Latin letter fonts and point figures is only slightly flawed by dull images of the Cyrillic alphabet. On the other hand, it is all uniformly illuminated in white color, and the difference in the fonts makes it a little easier to search for the required layout.

On the sides of the shell can be noticed the center rocker key of the camera, volume control wheel, as well as a non-conceived plug on the opposite side. Theoretically, it opens up the edges and keeps the center, covering the microSDHC slot (8 GB card is included), and microUSB-socket for charging and connecting to a PC.
The back side of the smartphone can easily surprise the owner of a 5730 XM prototype with the fact that besides the edged matte ground there’s nothing more like the battery cover. And the lid should be removed from the right side. In addition, the lid is cut in the box under the combined LED flash and 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus.
Under the lid is ejected the SIM-card slot, and right above of it are placed the dynamics. The sound goes through an invisible eye gap between the case and the lid. Also, there is a battery of 1000 mAh, a charger which will last for a day or two of exploitation, depending on the activity.

Nokia 6600 is an attention attracting image-smartphone from the famous Finnish manufacturer. The users od Nokia 6600 are business people and advanced young people. Nokia 5320 XpressMusic Nokia 5320 XpressMusic(1)

To include Nokia 5320 XpressMusic to this class is possible thanks to Symbian OS with S60 user interface instead of the standard S40. Nevertheless, not only employed entrepreneurs can buy Nokia 5320 XpressMusic, but also young people, because the device is the next replenishment of the famous line of music phones of the Finnish company. Judging by the index in the title, we can assume that Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is heir of the Nokia 5310 XM. However, the models differ markedly in appearance and functionality. Despite the advanced stuffing, Nokia 5320, is positioned by the company as a phone for mid-market with all the consequences. First, the price of Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is quite acceptable for people with not very large income. Secondly, the emphasis in the new model is made not only on the functions of media player, but on the playing potential. Nokia 5320 XpressMusic uses a sound chip, which is characteristic for all phones running on S60. But a large number of peripheral buttons make managing functions of Nokia 5320 XpressMusic very convenient.

With all this the design of Nokia 5320 is quite ascetic. This is not a loudly-glamorous fashionable phone, which you can take out of your pocket with the slightest desire to stand out from the crowd. On the contrary, thanks to the efforts of the designers, Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is outwardly restrained, if not severe. The only bright element of design is the colored plastic band, visible on the sides of the shell. The case is very durable and resistant to minor scratches. XpressMusic button is located over the 2-inch screen of Nokia 5320 with a resolution of 240×320. For those who like making videos, there is a camera on the front side of the shell (also located above the display). The main camera of Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is located on the back side and is equipped with a flash. It is easy to guess, that the quality of images taken with Nokia 5320 XpressMusic, differ from those made by a conventional camera. Nevertheless, it is enough for the street shooting, when you do not have a digital “Soap” or “SLR”.

Nokia 5320 has 128 MB of RAM, 96 of which are available to the user when working of the main system. That number is sufficient for the simultaneous launch of 10 applications. Resources allow, without any problems, to surf and download enough “heavy” pages. The screen size of Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is noticeably smaller than of other smartphones of the company, so navigation on extensive sites can make some difficulties. Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is powered by lithium-ion battery that provides up to 250 hours of standby time and up to 3.5 hours of continuous talk. Summarizing we can say that whatever your preferences in mobile phones are, Nokia 5320 XpressMusic can be a very good acquisition.
