Nokia plans to release a new version of the Ovi Maps service, available for smartphone owners of the company. The service will include the turn-based navigation for motorists and pedestrians. Nokia believes that this step will allow in the future to double the market of mobile navigation.
The new version of Ovi Maps will have a built-in voice control, covering 74 countries and will be available in 46 languages; in addition, detailed maps are available for 180 countries. More than a dozen countries around the world will be able to obtain data on traffic conditions in real time, but even this will not be the main chip of the navigation service, but the fact that it would be free of charge.
This position of Nokia is caused by the desire to as soon as possible expand its subscriber base of users, and the announcement of free navigation is justified because the company sees future in social services and the Internet, because people give more time to this.
