Both vendors should be happy, as the sales of mobile phones have been soared. The consumers are still demanding, especially when choosing a Smartphone, they are carefully evaluating the traditional price / quality.
According to IDC, during the period of the report there have been sold 325.3 million mobile devices against 292.4 million shipped in the last three months of 2008.

Both Nokia and Apple increased their own sales approximately for 17% when compared with the third quarter. At the same time Apple has sold 8.7 million of iPhones – a new record. But Nokia does not stand still: the Finnish giant is working hard on improving the user interface of Symbian-Smartphones, including an abundance of new features. Nokia released the 126.9 million phones, 20.8 million of which is accounted for Smartphones.
Samsung and LG have also set a record of number of phones – 68,8 and 33,9 million.
Sony Ericsson and Motorola continue to struggle – 14,6 and 12,0 million units constituted their sale.
During 2009 the Smartphone market was the mainstay of the total mobile phone market. Smartphones have shown annual increase of around 30% against a 5 per cent fall of the mobile segment as a whole.
