Symbian Anna, Belle, Carla, Donna… Now it’s Belle’s turn as Anna is already running on many devices, and has got back the reputation of Symbian OS. Belle has another goal; it must strengthen its positions for Carla and Donna. There are not that many high-end Symbian-powered smartphones, and it wouldn’t be easy. Anyway, Nokia has proved it reaches what it wants. Now we know Symbian Belle update will be launched for special models; they are the Nokia N8, E7, X7, C6-01, C7, Oro, E6 and the Nokia 500.

Symbian Belle is already available on the Nokia 701, 700 and 603, but all these smartphones are mid-range and low-end, so Nokia wouldn’t benefit from basing on them. However, the aforementioned more popular devices will help Nokia promote Symbian and who knows maybe until 2016 Nokia will change its mind and this platform won’t appear out of the game.

The list is not unfamiliar to us, as we have earlier learned the N8 and the E7 will be the first Symbian^3 handsets getting Symbian Belle update when it is rolled out early next year. The rest of the smartphones were expected (but not confirmed) to be included in the list. At the moment Nokia makes everything official and we have the complete list of models, which will get Belle.

Belle comes with many improvements including 5 different sizes of widgets, which can be used on 6 homescreens. Now it has a new pull-down notification bar like Android. Plus Belle comes with a complete NFC support and users will have a chance to enjoy all the joy it brings. We already heard Nokia is working on the sequel of the N8, which will be packed with a more powerful camera and probably run Symbian Belle. I even can’t imagine the beast the new N8 will be when launched.
