Nokia has launched many luxury phones recently. Not so long ago the Nokia Oro was officially introduced and then visited FCC. Then we heard about the upcoming Vertu phones that are most likely going to run Windows Phone 7. Now Nokia is releasing a new version of the Nokia C3-01, called the Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition.

This new C3-01 edition has an 18-carat gold plating and ceramic-feel keymat materials. A “matching theme” – whatever it means – is also coming with the smartphone.

Most of the specs of the Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition haven’t changed since the older version, only some of them were updated. Both versions work in the same 2G/3G networks, both are based on the Series 40 mobile platform, have the same dimensions (111 x 47.5 x 11 mm) and the same weight (100 g). Their displays are 2.4-inch (240 x 320 pixels) TFT resistive touchscreens showing 256K colors.

As for the cameras, they’re the same again – 5 MP (taking 2592х1944 pics and VGA videos at 15fps) with LED flash. And for performing all these functions the phones have standard Li-Ion 1050 mAh (BL-5CT) batteries.

Unlike the “ordinary” C3-01, the Gold Edition has a 1GHz processor (who knows why?), 140MB storage instead of 30MB. RAM and ROM amount is the same — 64MB and 128MB respectively.

The Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition will most likely be offered in several markets only (Middle East?), and its price will be rather low – only about 220 Euros (about $317). The previous posh Nokia phone cost much more, remember?
