Especially after a leaked video of the Samsung Omnia 7 using Nokia Drive, Nokia Drive‘s popularity gave rise to a number of rumors concerning its availability on Windows Phone handsets offered by other manufacturers. The statement suggested the manufacturer will offer this app to other manufacturers at some cost.

To solve the situation, Mark Squires, Nokia’s Communication director made an official tweet:
“Folk’s Nokia Drive will not be made available for other WP OEMs…It comes on our Lumia range and there are currently no plans to change that.”
The Nokia Drive is created by Espoo. The main feature of the application is the detailed voice-guided navigation. Other than that, it also supports 3D navigation. Though Nokia Drive is designed to come pre-installed with Lumia series, it’s still available for porting to other Nokia devices, based on Symbian and MeeGo.
The application comes with one weak point — at the moment it can provide navigation only in online mode. The Nokia Developer team is currently working on this issue. They promise to come up with a software update soon. The update will bring Nokia Drive offline navigation.
