I guess you’ll agree with me if I say Nokia’s native Symbian platform is currently not the one everybody used to criticize. This platform managed to become high-competitive and though the US market still doesn’t offer many handsets running it, Symbian’s deals are not that bad in other markets. Moreover, at the moment Nokia has some advantage in comparison with other manufacturers, as it has two popular smartphone lines — Symbian based and Lumia series handsets. All this and Nokia’s rise caused the current interest towards Belle (I don’t called it Symbian Belle, as Nokia has dropped Symbian moniker).

We were earlier informed which handsets are included in the list expected to receive a Nokia Belle update. Of course, there are the most popular Symbian^3-flavered smartphones in face of the Nokia N8, E7, X7 and others. The mentioned devices will run on the newest version of Nokia’s mobile operating system not earlier than February. We know this, because Nokia is not Apple and doesn’t leave everything to the last minute. The Finnish company announced the Belle update will come next year still in the beginning of this month.
However, Nokia Belle is too awaited as there are tons of differences between Anna and Belle. The decision to launch this update on that day is not only a technical move, but also a strategic one; the Belle-powered N8s, E7s and C6s are already being shipped and all those users who want to feel the pleasure of Nokia Belle can get one. Moreover, to dispel all the negative conversations Vipul Mehrotra, Head of Smart Devices India Sales Unit, decided to give explanations on why Nokia delayed the updating. Here is what he said answering to the question whether it was done to sell more Lumia 800 handsets or not:
“No, that is not the case. Our Symbian smartphones portfolio has had a key role in many markets before the roll-out of Lumia products, and will have a key role going forward too. In India, we are especially excited about the new features, innovations and an advanced user experience that Belle will give to people, as we really want to delight customers with great Nokia smartphone experiences. I think it is also great that we have now started shipping enhanced versions of Nokia N8, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01 with Nokia Belle preinstalled. Belle will be a major software update, and we are truly looking forward to bringing such a big update to consumers across the markets.”
