The sales results of the Nokia Lumia 800 in the UK are pretty impressive: the handset is sold out in this territory. Still it’s a question to call the launch of the handset in this country the best decision or not.

At first we expected Nokia to ship around 2 million units of this handset to the UK. Afterwards we got a splash of rumors claiming the manufacturer has cut the number of units, launching only 500,00 units of the handsets, which is four times fewer than the expected number.
When Nokia representatives were asked about the number of handsets launched in this territory, the representatives mentioned the following:
“Based on earliest data the sales start of the Lumia 800 is the best ever first week of Nokia smartphone sales in the U.K. in recent history. By our measures, we have gained significant smartphone sell-out share in the channels in which we are operating in the U.K.”
Even if the sales of the Nokia Lumia 800 were not that successful, I bet the “sold out” status in the UK will promote the sales of the handset in the US. Considering it is Nokia’s first large launch of handsets this year, the results are not that poor.
