I guess you’ll agree that all the latest topics related with Nokia were about its deal with Microsoft and switching to Windows Phone 7. But Finnish company made a statement earlier they wouldn’t drop from Symbian^3 and only the high-end smartphones will be packed with Microsoft’s platform, other mid-range smartphones and thus high-end devices that would/were powered with Symbian would continue to get updates. Now Nokia shows several screenshots of an update for the OS that will be available for the Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 smartphones.
According to Cnet UK, the press conference in China had Nokia’s smartphone boss Jo Harlow and introduced the company’s plans related with Symbian platform. The screenshots show the new UI has a smaller battery, signal, operator info, and time at the top of the home screen.

During the press conference it became clear there would be new flexible widgets, and as you can see in the pictures they are different sizes and shapes. Though Harlow didn’t say when the update will go live, but he said “new devices” and improved hardware performance would be in the nearest future.
You can think this is great news for Nokia fans, but when The Inquirer run a poll asking what new features they would to see, the result was disappointing, as the most of them answered they were looking forward to see Windows Phone 7 on Nokia handsets.
I think it’s just a simple curiosity and when Nokia future handsets get Windows Phone, all users will remember Nokia’s awesome smartphones in face of the Nokia N8, E7 and E6.
