The Nokia N8 is the company’s flagship with its brother, the E7. It was criticized too much, and maybe its features aren’t quite perfect, but it doesn’t mean the Symbian 3 platform, which was the main target of the critics, yields to Android, WP7 or iOS just because it’s not popular in the US.

Well, if you want to know how the N8 looks next to the new-launched Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, here is a quick comparison reference.

The both devices are quad-band smartphones, but there are many differences between them. Say, the Nokia N8 is packed with a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, while the Arc sports a 4.2-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive display. The N8 comes in dimensions of 113.5×59.1×12.9 mm and weighs 135g, the Arc is larger and flatter, but weighs a miniscule 18g less.

Probably the Symbian 3 OS and the 680MHz processor are the weakest features of Nokia’s product. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc runs on Android 2.3 and boasts with a 1GHz processor. The cameras are not comparable, however, and I think there is no other smartphone in the market to be on the same level with Nokia N8′s 12MP camera (Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc’s camera is only 8MP). Both phones support microSD cards, and this allows users to expand the memory up to 32GB, but the Nokia N8 features a 16GB internal memory card, while the Arc comes only with a 320MB one.

Since the Nokia N8 was launched earlier, it is in a more beneficial position as its price has dropped, but the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc was launched recently and is still rather expensive. So it’s up to you to decide which one is better for you.
