When Nokia announced its first MeeGo-based device, many carriers considered bringing it to their stores. Unfortunately, Nokia had other goals for this device and the list where the phone should be available shortened. As a result, this much anticipated smartphone wasn’t released in those countries that make up the main smartphone market. The U.S. was one of the first countries where Nokia decided not to bring the Nokia N9, but now it is available via Expansys, which decided to try its luck.

The retailer requires $690 for the unlocked version of the Nokia N9 16GB. It’s a GSM handset, meaning it’s compatible with such networks as AT&T, T-Mobile and Simple Mobile provide. Other features include a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash, a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU and runs MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan.

It’s a little bit unacceptable to pay so much for a Nokia smartphone, but on the other hand you are free of a two-year commitment to a carrier. Anyway, you don’t have much time to think as there seem to be only limited supplies.
