Though the Nokia N9 made a huge buzz around it, most likely we won’t see this handset in the U.S. Moreover, every day more and more sources start to say the Nokia N9 is the first and the last handset running MeeGo, which means the U.S. smartphone market won’t take it on board. Nokia is refused by the U.S., but Europe and Asia (I am not talking about other continents, as Nokia is an absolute leader there) are open for this brand and for this handset especially. For example, Switzerland has announced September 15 as the launch date of the smartphone.

The phone will be available via Orange Switzerland, and nothing more is known at this time — no pricing, no possible changes. This makes us think there will be almost the same contract details we saw for the Nokia N9 Russian release details. It’s clear why the company set such a high price tag — the N9 is a really perfect handset, and if it ran, say, Android or iOS, I am sure it’d become very popular. Unfortunately, MeeGo is an experimental platform and this is the main and the only reason of its fail (if we can say so).

Other countries joined Russia and Switzerland, too, and the first device running MeeGo will be available in other European and Asian countries soon.
