Meego IVI 1.0 Released

Nokia has been working with GENIVI Alliance for already a long time and there were a few doubts what is going to be the final product of the cooperation. As for now we can witness the latest 1.0 version of IVI (In-vehicle infotainment) platform. Impressive thing.

Recall the Alliance members are a some of the most popular companies as BMW, General Motors,Mitsubishi, Hyudai  and much more. This is not going to be final version yet but rather close to the one.

The main features of the new Meego IVI 1.0 platform are the Fennec browser, Navit navigation and Bluetooth-enabled dialer.

MeeGo To Get Used By GENIVI Alliance

MeeGo operating system became the primary platform for the products from GENIVI Alliance, which creates information and entertainment systems for automobiles. Joint development of Intel and Nokia will be used in cars such as BMW, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen and Hyundai.

” We selected MeeGo as the open source basis for our platform because it is technically innovative and can provide the cross architecture build support we require for out refernces. Working with MeeGo, we expect to establish a solution that effectively meges IVI needs with those of MeeGo target devices categories “, – said President of GENIVI Graham Smethurst.

The platform will be the basis for solving GENIVI Apollo, which will provide an opportunity to use navigation, play videos and music, connect wireless devices and surf the internet in the car.
