Nokia Lumia 710 Available in UK

by Argam - on Feb 2nd 2012 - No Comments

The Nokia Lumia 710 is finally available for purchase in most UK locations. The info is officially announced by Nokia reps and corresponding retail stores and mobile operators.

The Lumia 710 runs Windows Phone Mango in conjunction with Bing and Internet Explorer 9, which means we deal with a handset having all necessary features to boast of.

The Lumia 710 is packed with a 3.7-inch ClearBlack WVGA display with a special scratch resistant cover, a 1.4GHz single-core Snapdragon Qualcomm processor, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage capabilities. Definitely the Lumia 710′s specs list is not so great as that of the Lumia 800, but the price difference covers the gap.

As to the software, it features Nokia Drive turn-by-turn navigation, free music subscription to Mix Radio, Windows Phone Office Hub and XBox live.

The Lumia lineup device will be available via the following mobile operators: Vodafone, Orange UK, T-Mobile UK and O2. As for the retail stores, we have Phones 4U and Carphone Warehouse.

The most accessible offer in the country is 15.50 GBP/monthly with a 12 months contract. But the offers are great many, so you just need to choose one most suitable for you.

T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 Now Free with a Contract

by Argam - on Feb 2nd 2012 - No Comments

The second Nokia Windows Phone, the Lumia 710 is finally getting more affordable. Originally available from T-Mobile at $49.99 it is now available for free. It’s noteworthy that we have this free option right a day after the price was cut to $39.99.

To get your free unit go to the closest Microsoft Store location or order one via T-Mobile official website.

Just to remind, the manufacturer stated this device would fit into the mid-range series, while it ended up as a low-cost entry level WP smartphone.

Similarly, the price of the device is dropped in other markets as well (Russia, India and even Canada). In Russia the smartphone’s price is cut by 35%, which is an enormous cut for a brand new smartphone. Now the Russian customers can get the handset for only 9890 rubles ($325).

Some experts claim the price cut is conditioned with the WP smartphone’s low sales. Still another flagship of the same lineup will be soon released, thus the interest towards the lineup needs to be kept on the top level. But on the other hand, different reports claim the phone is sold very well, so I personally think such price discounts are a strategic move to promote the Lumia series. I believe the Lumia 710 was designed to help Nokia become more popular, and not ensure some benefit.

Nokia Lumia 710 Facebook Contest

by Argam - on Feb 1st 2012 - No Comments

After the Nokia Lumia 800 give up in Facebook, Nokia decided to boast a new contest having the little bro Lumia 710 as a gift.

The contest comes in the following form: you need to choose the best color option of the Lumia 710 in Nokia’s Facebook page and provide the details about yourself. The contest is open for the participants from various countries. The main requirement is that you should be of legal age in your home country.

The contest is open until February 13. After the deadline the computer will randomly choose among the contests and choose 5 lucky winners, who will get a Lumia 710 as a gift. The start of the gift distribution will start on February 14- St. Valentine’s Day. Thus it’s an additional reason of why to participate in the contest.  Just keep in mind to check the rules of the contest beforehand.

At the moment the Lumia 710 is only available via T-Mobile at the price of only $39.99 (due to the final price cut by $10). But later this year we should expect to get this device in other countries, including Canada (via Rogers) and the U.K.

Rogers Asking $253 For Unlocked Lumia 710

by Argam - on Feb 1st 2012 - No Comments

In less than a week we expect to be a witness of Nokia Lumia 710 launch in Canada. Rogers Canada will offer the WP device with a super low price tag of only $253 for the unlocked phone. According to the source phones are already on the way to the stores of the Canadian carrier so no delays are expected.

As for the contracts, Rogers Canada comes with the following price tags:  $49.99 with the 3-year contract, $99.99 with the 2-year contract, $149.99 with a one-year contract. Well the three-year contract price offer was similar to T-Mobile’s offer with a two-year contract, thus I’m wondering whether the Canadian carrier will cut the price due to the price cut faced by T-Mobile. Now the U.S. carrier asks $39.99 for the two-year contract device.

But if Rogers decides to cut the prices for the contract version handsets, this might also influence the price of the unlocked version, thus we better wait for the February 6.

After launching the Lumia 710 the Rogers Canada might start planning its strategy of getting more WP devices, such as the Lumia 900 or Lumia 910.

T-Mobile Cuts Lumia 710 Price to $39.99

by Argam - on Feb 1st 2012 - No Comments

T-Mobile is responding to the claims against the high price of the Nokia Lumia 710. Now the price of the WP device is cut by 20 percent, thus it comes at $39.99 (after a $50 rebate) with a two-year agreement.

I believe the price was cut just because T-Mobile expects to get a more attractive device from Mobile World Congress 2012. Most likely the carrier’s follow up WP device will be the Lumia 900, but there are rumors it might end up being the 12 megapixel Lumia 910 (for this option the carrier will be required to wait until the second quarter of the year).

So what should you expect from a device coming at $39.99? Well, definitely something more than for mid-range devices. The Lumia 710 comes with a 3.7-inch display with WVGA resolution, a 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and the possibility of shooting 720p videos. In addition, there are 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage capabilities.

Finally the device has every chance to turn into a best-seller as a mid-range Nokia device.

Rogers Nokia Lumia 710 Price Revealed

by Argam - on Jan 27th 2012 - No Comments

When talking about its plans, Rogers mentioned it’d offer the Nokia Lumia 710 at the price of $49.99 with a three-year contract. We finally have the full list of the price options. The device will be available at $99.99 with a two-year contract and at $149.99 with a one-year contract.

The unlocked version comes at $254.99. This price is more attractive than the one asked for the European option of the device from Orange France, where the device comes at approximately $300.

The Lumia 710 comes with a 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, a 1.4GHz single-core processor, a 5 megapixel rear camera with the capability of shooting 720p videos, Nokia Drive feature, Wi-Fi, HSPA and GPS.

The first “Canada-based” WP device will be launched on February 6 in Rogers Smartphone Lite category. Well, we know Telus is planning to offer the second WP device the Lumia 800, but the launch date is not unveiled. I doubt it will be launched earlier than February 6, thus the chances for the successful launch of the Lumia 710 are greater.

Nokia Lumia 710 for €229 at Orange FR

by Argam - on Jan 27th 2012 - No Comments

Orange FR is offering its price options for the Nokia Lumia 710. The device is still not available online, but obviously once the prices are already confirmed the device will be finally released by the mobile operator.

The price options include either Origami plans or Smart packages, while the unlocked option is also available.

Origami plans

  • 1 EUR with 49 EUR/month plan
  • 49 EUR with 39 EUR/month plan
  • 89 EUR with 29 EUR/month plan
Smart packages
  • 109 EUR with 21 EUR/month plan
  • 149 EUR with less than 21 EUR/month plans
The contract free option is not less attractive. You are required to pay 229 EUR (around $300), which is 35 EUR more than the offer of the Rogers in Canada — 194 EUR (around $255).
The price is not that bad, but I don’t think many customers will be willing to pay such a price for this not that high-end smartphone. Still it will take a while until the Lumia 900 gets to France. So let’s wait and see what news we’ll have.
