Nokia Lumia 800: Top 5 Features Nokia Lumia 800: Top 5 Features(1)

I believe in the Nokia Lumia 800. Geeks will definitely love it. In short, I believe Nokia’s back. Now let’s have a look at the newly-announced Lumia 800 and discuss the features, which can ensure the phone’s success.

For this deal we decided to turn to our friends at Nokiaconnects, and now we have what we needed. Below is the list of top 5 Nokia Lumia 800 features.

5. Nokia Music — Nokia Music is Nokia’s version of what Apple called iTunes and Google called Google Music. This is a radio-based Mix Radio service that allows users to choose the one they want to listen to. One of its advantages is it doesn’t require registration. But as for the service itself, each channel offers 50 tracks, which are refreshed every week. Plus, when out of coverage the app will cache 200 songs on your device or 4 channels providing two hours of non-stop playback.

4. Homescreen — Homescreen’s Microsoft’s honor, and not that of Nokia’s. But it doesn’t make it less welcomed. We like what we see when taking out and looking at the phone. The new look of live tiles and Windows Phone Mango overall is just awesome.

3. Xbox Live — The Nokia Lumia 800 comes with Xbox Live feature, which allows users to view and edit their profile, check and reply to messages, download games, check their achievements, change their avatar and lots of other actions.

2. Design – We’ve talked about its look for several times, and every time the conversation gains new momentum, because the Nokia Lumia 800 comes in the same design as the MeeGo-powered Nokia N9, but Windows Phone Mango gives another look to it. I heard various opinions concerning its design, and most of them were positive. Even iPhone and Android fans agreed the Lumia 800 has a great appearance.

1. Of course, the first place is reserved for Nokia Lumia 800′s social integration. This is what we call “genius.” You can always get information about your contacts, but besides the basic one, ther’s a deep integration with social networking sites. So every time you open your people hub on the phone, you have a chance to know everything about your contacts.

Nokia N9 Gets a Big Update Nokia N9 Gets a Big Update(0)

The Nokia N9 is getting so popular that it can even be compared with the Nokia N8 in terms of popularity. Moreover, it’s been compared with a device like the iPhone 4. The Nokia N9 is good, but not perfect. The smartphone’s evidently conquering more areas (it’s available even in the U.S.), so  Nokia decided not to delay the promised update and push it out… right now.

The Finnish company has powered the white version of the Nokia N9 with the updated MeeGo, and now all the other colored devices will get it, too. The update is 218MB, which means you must go for this deal when not in hurry. It’ll bring your phone to version 20.2011.40-4 of the software. The update includes:

  • Music controls on the lockscreen
  • Improved multitasking with better memory handling
  • NFC tag reading capabilities
  • Shooting photos and videos with color filters (black & white, sepia, vivid, negative, solarize)
  • Preinstalled Swype
  • Faster Mail for Exchange sync
  • Noise cancellation
  • Swiping down to close apps is now on by default
  • New indicators for charging and calendar are shown on the standby screen.

There are also a number of apps received updates:

  • Twitter app supports picture uploads to Twitpic
  • Facebook app
  • Nokia Store
  • Ovi Music
  • Galaxy on Fire 2
  • Nokia Drive
  • Angry Birds
  • AccuWeather
  • NFS Shift
  • Real Golf 2011
  • User Guide.

The update is welcomed by Nokia N9 owners. If you haven’t been notified about it, do it yourself by going to Settings > Manage Applications > Updates.

Nokia N9 Available in the US via Expansys Nokia N9 Available in the US via Expansys(0)

When Nokia announced its first MeeGo-based device, many carriers considered bringing it to their stores. Unfortunately, Nokia had other goals for this device and the list where the phone should be available shortened. As a result, this much anticipated smartphone wasn’t released in those countries that make up the main smartphone market. The U.S. was one of the first countries where Nokia decided not to bring the Nokia N9, but now it is available via Expansys, which decided to try its luck.

The retailer requires $690 for the unlocked version of the Nokia N9 16GB. It’s a GSM handset, meaning it’s compatible with such networks as AT&T, T-Mobile and Simple Mobile provide. Other features include a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash, a 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU and runs MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan.

It’s a little bit unacceptable to pay so much for a Nokia smartphone, but on the other hand you are free of a two-year commitment to a carrier. Anyway, you don’t have much time to think as there seem to be only limited supplies.

White Nokia N9 Hands-on Video White Nokia N9 Hands-on Video(0)

Though the Nokia N9 is classified as a dead smartphone, we continue hearing news about it every day. This can sound strange to those people who are unaware the Nokia Lumia 800 has the same design and in some sense, promoting the Nokia N9 is in favor of the Lumia 800. Nokia’s probably considered this when announcing about its plans on launching the white version of the MeeGo-powered device. We’re glad to inform you the white Nokia N9 was unveiled right today.

On the whole, this is the same Nokia N9 that came in black, cyan, and magenta, i.e. the company hasn’t made any changes in the specs list. The only difference is the white model will be available with 64GB internal memory. Another thing to know is that it’s made of a single piece of machined polyurethane keeping the build quality the same.

The white model is almost ready and will be launched in the same countries before the end of this year. Meanwhile, check out the Nokia N9 hands-on video to get acquainted with the features due to which the phone has become popular.

eBuddy to be Preferred Messaging Partner of Nokia eBuddy to be Preferred Messaging Partner of Nokia(0)

eBuddy has reached the 20 million downloads milestone in Ovi Store. This means we’re dealing with one of the most popular applications on the market. This is why Nokia decided to strengthen their cooperation and gave the app en extra push, making eBuddy the “preferred messaging partner.”

eBuddy will be released for all Nokia handsets regardless of the platform they run on, S40, S60, MeeGo and Windows Phone 7.

I guess this is a right decision, because if the app has been downloaded more than 150 million times, it means one thing — users like it. So why not give it a chance to become an official partner? On this occasion Nokia’s Reno Marioni said:

“eBuddy’s success and experience in the mobile messaging field have made this partnership a natural step for Nokia. We are excited about the introduction of eBuddy XMS to Nokia platforms and look forward to having Nokia users enjoy the reliable and rich messaging experience that eBuddy XMS provides.”

Moreover, due to this cooperation Nokia won’t have to consider how to improve its native messaging app, and will focus its attention on  more important features. On the other hand, eBuddy developers will improve their product, because it’s not easy to be one of the main apps on Nokia’s phones. So we must state that the cooperation between Nokia and eBuddy is in favor of both companies.

White Nokia N9 Coming with Software Update White Nokia N9 Coming with Software Update(0)

Taking into account that Nokia hardly ever introduces low-priced devices for the emerging markets, the announcement of such handsets as the Nokia Asha 300, 303 and 200, was a real surprise. Nevertheless, the surprise list doesn’t end here.

The manufacturer is now working on the release of the white version of the Nokia N9. Other than that, Nokia 9 users will get a new software update.

Frank Zillikens states:

“The manufacturing process for beautiful white products is quite complex and we wanted to make sure we deliver the best possible quality for our consumers”.

The White Nokia N9 is already the fourth color option of the smartphone, which is already available in cyan, magenta and black options. But the white option of the handset looks way too elegant and classy.

The handset is expected to be available sometime before the end of this year with 64 GB memory capabilities. Hopefully for this version Nokia will offer a glossy finish instead of the matte one offered earlier.

As for the software update coming to this Harmattan MeeGo device, we should mention that it’ll bring a large list of enhancements, including NFC tag reading, music controls on lock screen and many more.

How Nokia N9 is Made? Process Video How Nokia N9 is Made? Process Video(0)

The Nokia N9 is already available in many countries. Unlike other Nokia handsets it is sure to get more and more popular. This is a little bit strange because Nokia earlier announced it won’t continue working on MeeGo and it was just an experimental platform. However, the interest towards it doesn’t extinguish, and we’ll introduce our Nokia N9 review in coming days. At this moment I want you to pay attention to the video, which shows how the phone is made.

On the other hand, this video could be interesting because Nokia’s upcoming Windows Phone-powered smartphone, the Nokia 800 has similar design. Moreover, Nokia World is around the corner and most likely we’ll see more WP-flowered devices and no one knows what they’ll look like. There may be, for example, other unibody handsets, so it’s really interesting how such devices are made.

Watch the video below and let us know whether you like the Nokia N9’s design or no. Would you like to see other handsets looking similar?

Windows Phone Mango vs. MeeGo Windows Phone Mango vs. MeeGo(0)

While many people are busy discussing which platform is better, which one dominates on the market and how the smartphone market will be changed in terms of software requirements, others compare different operating systems leaving the final verdict to you. And that’s right — each platform has its own advantages and disadvantages, so only you — the consumer — can decide which one is better for you.

I want to introduce to you an amazing video comparing Windows Phone Mango and MeeGo. MeeGo? Yes the same MeeGo we saw on the Nokia N9. Windows Phone Mango partakes in this comparison video in face of the HTC Radar.

But there is this problem — the video’s in Russian, but I advise you not to focus on this fact, as you’ll see what you need; that’s how these two platforms do different things.

Well, you only have to know some details about both handsets. The HTC Radar comes with a 3.8-inch Super LCD touchscreen, a 1GHz processor with Adreno 205 GPU, 8GB internal memory and 512MB of RAM, while the Nokia N9 comes with a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with PowerVR SGX530 GPU and TI OMAP 3630 chipset, 16/64GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM.

On the whole, the Nokia N9 looks more attractive, so when making your decision take into account this factor, too.

Nokia 800 Appears in Leaked Press Shot Nokia 800 Appears in Leaked Press Shot(0)

We don’t know much about the upcoming Nokia handsets running Windows Phone OS, but Nokia World is coming closer and we’ll soon get many answers to our questions. I guess some (or all) of those handsets will be unveiled at the event, and I hope the Nokia 800 will be there, too.

At this moment we know very little about the Nokia 800, but unlike other Nokia WP devices, it has leaked in a photo. I’m talking about the Indian carrier’s ad. As you remember, we have already talked about it and have noted its similarity to the Nokia N9. Now we have another photo coming from PocketNow, and this image confirms our assumption.

Strangely, one of Nokia’s first phones running WP has the same design as the MeeGo-flavored Nokia N9, because Microsoft’s platform must make an overhaul in Nokia’s handsets. On the other hand, this fact explains why Nokia refused to launch the Nokia N9 in many countries, and even why it doesn’t work hard on MeeGo, when it is so popular and loved. Now we come to understand that Nokia avoided it, because it had planned to bring Windows Phone to this handset. I guess this is a very smart step, because the Nokia N9 has managed to become popular. Bravo Nokia!

Nokia N9 vs. Nokia N8 Video Recording Nokia N9 vs. Nokia N8 Video Recording(0)

If you ask me, it doesn’t really matter that Android is the most popular platform and that many manufacturers hold firmly to it. All I know is Nokia’s really cute and it has handsets that are completely out of competition. One of the best handsets in Nokia’s portfolio is the Nokia N8. It’s great, but it doesn’t mean the Nokia N8 stands alone at the peak of glory — the newly-launched Nokia N9 is there, too.

Yesterday we talked about the shocking results the Nokia N9 showed by its video playback. Much earlier we talked about its stunning features (buttonless design, pleasant UI and performance of MeeGo, awesome specs list and so on). Yes, we talked much about this device, but there is one thing we haven’t done so far — we haven’t put it in comparison in terms of video and audio recording. Here we go.

Below you can find a video comparing the Nokia N9 and the Nokia N8 recording abilities. Be attentive; besides the picture quality, there are also sound recording differences. And lastly I just have to say this — Nokia is the best when it comes to audio recording, and I don’t know any other smartphone company paying as much attention to it, as Nokia does.
