Pick Nokia N8 for £199.95 from Carphone Warehouse

by Argam - on Dec 27th 2011 - No Comments

The Nokia N8 continues showing its endurance in the cruel smartphone market. I mean there are many handsets packed with more powerful features, but the demand on it doesn’t reduce. However, different mobile operators and retailers require rather affordable prices for it. One of such retailers is Carphone Warehouse, which asks £199.95.

Our good old-fashioned Nokia N8 is still the only smartphone with a 12MP camera on board. I believe it’s the key feature of this handset, though no one will disagree with me if I say the design and many other specs of this handset are not less interesting or powerful. Yes there were some “faulty” features most of which are corrected at the moment (the rest will be corrected in the near future). I am talking about Symbian^3 platform, which was the Achilles’ heel of the Nokia N8. However, the phone is currently running Anna and will soon get Nokia Belle, thus we have no holes.

For detailed information visit Carphone Warehouse’s web site.

Will the Nokia N8 relight the Finnish company’s fire?

by GULLIVER - on Nov 25th 2010 - No Comments
After their rise to stardom in the late 90’s and early 00’s Nokia seemed to take a bit of a backward step into oblivion and to have a Nokia handset after that was seen as a bit of a hoodoo, so basically steer clear from Nokia’s or face the wrath of the public for having one of these handsets. Well, now you may say that they have taken a step out of oblivion and into the light. Finally!
You may be asking why they have taken a step in the right direction, well my friend, that is because they have released a handset that will be contending with the big boys for Nokia and hopefully make a stand so that other companies may sit back and begin to think, “oh hang about, Nokia are back and they’re back with a vengeance!” That handset is none other than the Nokia N8.
They have released this handset in a range of different colours from Silver White, Dark Grey, Orange, Blue and Green. So you have the choice there straight away. The ins and outs of this little beauty are something else, Nokia have equipped it with a full metal jacket, or body rather and the paint they have used is no ordinary paint, it is anodised scratch-proof paint, which if we’re being honest gives the phone quite a nice, polished feel and after tests were carried out by TechRadar it really is scratch proof, they found this out after rubbing keys on the handset, but they found one flaw in the paint work. The slider button on the side of the handset can get its paint rubbed off quite easily after time.
This shouldn’t bother you that much though as the handset has an astonishingly amazing 12MP camera attached on to the back of the handset with a Xenon flash. So if this isn’t enough to get your taste buds tingling, then to be quite honest we don’t know what will and you probably have a vendetta against Nokia for one reason or another. There are plenty of handsets around at the minute that, don’t get me wrong probably are a lot better than this handset but not many out there that can rival the 12Mp camera on offer here with this absolute beast of a handset.

Nokia N8 Running iOS?

by GULLIVER - on Nov 25th 2010 - 1 Comment

The Nokia N8 with its Symbian ^3 operating system seems to be a all in one solution. However Chinese company does not share this idea and brings out a handset that distrustfully resembles the N8, but with a operating system that looks like iPhone’s iOS! Shocking I agree!

The Nokia N8 and iOS? Is it really a perfect combination? Well , I think Symbian ^3 operating system performs quite good and can withstand any OS rivalry.  In the video below you can notice that someone has installed iOS on the Nokia N8.

However it is not that easy to fool a sharp eye, a more careful look and the mystery is revealed , the handset is just a cheap fake of the Nokia N8, missing class-leading 12-Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, backlight menu button  and  the anodised aluminium casing.
Although in some way the company succeeded in cloning the Nokia N8′s design, however it does not look fully convincing.

Check out the video below to make sure!

So if your Nokia will be running iOS, do not think that you are the lucky guy, you simply have the  bad fake.

Nokia N8 and E7 will be realeased later this month

by GULLIVER - on Sep 6th 2010 - No Comments

It’s already known that Nokia’s new smartphone will be launched on September 30, but those who have ordered Nokia N8 directly from Nokia could buy it starting September 28.

Nokia N8 will be exclusive at Nokia Online for a week before it goes on general sale. In Finland you’ll have to pay 499€ to get this phone.

Nokia N8 is the first smartphone to run Symbian 3. The handset is equipped with a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and a large sensor – features, which make Nokia N8 more competitive than the iPhone and most Android devices.

In addition, Nokia N8 offers the opportunity to make HD videos and edit them with an intuitive built-in editing suite.  Doubling as a portable entertainment center, people can enjoy HD-quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound by plugging into their home theatre system.

After the digital camera social networking is the second remarkable feature of  Nokia N8. Users can view live feeds from Facebook and Twitter in a single app directly on the home screen. The Nokia N8 comes with free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation, guiding people to places and points of interest in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The cell phone giant has been slow to introduce high-end smartphones that appeal to users, particularly those in the U.S. market. This is the general reason why people choose iPhone and Android devices in the U.S. and, that’s why I think, the new Symbian smartphone will be welcomed  by American users.

Nokia N8 is Nokia’s first phone to be equipped with Qt, a software development environment that simplifies the development and makes it possible to build applications once and deploy across Symbian and other software platforms.

As Reuters  reported, Nokia will release another smartphone E7 at Nokia World in London on Sept. 14. This device comes with a large touch screen and full keyboard.

Nokia E7 also runs Symbian 3 and is equipped with a  4 inch screen with 640×360 pixels resolution. The device has an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash on its backside. The price of Nokia E7 is still unknown.

According to Nokia’s official blog last year it was the Nokia N900, X6, N97mini and Nokia Booklet on the hardware side and Nokia Money, the Ovi SDK and navigation API on the software side, that bring success to Nokia. I think these two smartphones will bring more success to the manufacturer.

Expect more news from Nokia, as the Nokia Developer Summit 2010 will be held at the same time as Nokia World in London.

Nokia Losing Its Leading Positioning

by GULLIVER - on Jun 17th 2010 - No Comments
In the past few years, Nokia started manufacturing noticeably cheaper devices than in earlier years. The desire of doing so is understandable and reasonable- now the company’s products will become afford to buy for a wide range of the population. But it cuts both ways.
Especially considering that in recent times phones are increasingly becoming part of the style and status. In this respect, the Finnish manufacturer handsets are losing their positions.
Even the newest flagship smartphone Nokia N8 almost certainly would cost less than $ 600.
We can say that Nokia phones are gradually losing their exclusivity. And not just that. Because of the low cost the functionality of the gadgets also started to suffer. Therefore, the market leader Nokia has turned into a company that is producing average, not particularly remarkable gadgets.
Perhaps, in order to regain its former status, the company has to release a number  of newest gadgets which will combine the newest technologies!
