MeeGo PR 1.2 Second Update being Tested on Nokia N950: N9 to Get in March

by Argam - on Jan 20th 2012 - No Comments

Two Nokia handsets run MeeGo OS. One of them is designed only for developers and the other one is available almost in every corner of the globe. You got it, I am talking about the Nokia N950 and the N9. Talking honestly, the first handset serves as a guinea pig for the N9, as all tests are carried out on it and if they succeed, the Nokia N9 gets them too. Now Nokia is testing the MeeGo PR 1.2 update on the N950. It will last 4-6 weeks and if it proves successful, then the end users will receive it at the end of March.

The Nokia N9 got its first big update back in December. It brought many changes, but didn’t solve all the faults. That’s why Nokia immediately started working on the second update the changelog of which was revealed. It includes:

  • Video calls
  • In-browser copy/paste with brackets
  • New camera interface
  • Additional gallery features

Obviously, this update will bring your beloved Nokia N9 to a level up, and though MeeGo is not there in Nokia’s long-term goals, it still keeps on surprising, doesn’t it?

The Only Nokia N9 The Dark Knight Rises Limited Edition in the World

by Argam - on Dec 27th 2011 - No Comments

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the most wanted guest at any party, but let’s not forget it has won this title thanks to the Nokia N9, which shocked all geeks with its buttonless and outstanding design. The Lumia 800 is more powerful and this is why everything related to it causes admiration. One of them was the launching of the Nokia Lumia 800 The Dark Knight Rises Limited Edition. As you know there are 40 similar devices in the world, but the Lumia 800’s similarity with the Nokia N9 helped a user become the only owner of the Dark Knight Rises – Special Edition Nokia N9.

Below is what James tweeted yesterday:

We had to create 40 Dark Knight branded Nokia Lumia 800s for an upcoming project* however, at the time, we didn’t have any Lumias to experiment with – so I volunteered my own N9.

Same body, same case, same result.

I’m now the owner of the only Batman-branded Nokia N9 in the world. Amazing

Well, that’s not a bad decision, and unless there is no another Nokia N9 The Dark Knight Rises Limited Edition, this person will remain the only owner.

by - on Dec 19th 2011 - No Comments

Apparently there are still smartphone users, who have no idea about a game, which became a legend, a symbol every good self-respecting smartphone should have. Yes, we are speaking of famous pigs and birds game – the Angry Birds. The game was made by a Finnish computer game company Rovio Mobile. Since its release on December 2009 for Apple iOS, more than 12 million copies of Angry Birds were bought from the Apple Store.

The game itself does not require much knowledge or strain; it’s all about destroying some pigs in various buildings, using birds of various calibers as catapult balls. There are thousands of similar games out there, but something in this particular game has granted the game millions of fans throughout the world. This is the perfect game for killing your time, relaxing, calming your nerves (can be dangerous if you are a bad player) if you love birds, or if you hate pigs.

The list of smartphones, which can incorporate Angry Birds is growing, and now the turn came to the Nokia N9, which runs on MeeGo OS. The full version (all 288 levels) for the Nokia N9 will cost you traditional 2 pounds (the game is free for Symbian OS) and can be downloaded from Nokia Store.

Nokia N950 Unboxing Video

by Argam - on Sep 6th 2011 - No Comments

There was a time when there were rumor saying Nokia had dropped off the N9 because of another MeeGo-powered device, the Nokia N950. Fortunately, later it became clear both handsets exist, but one of them is designed for public, and the other won’t be available for simple users and only developers can get their hands on it.

Anyway, the fact that this phone is created only for app and game developers and won’t be introduced to public didn’t prevent the designers from making a perfect smartphone that differs by its elegant appearance and innovative platform. Watch the unboxing video, then we’ll continue discussing it.

The Nokia N950 is packed with a 1GHz TI OMAP3630, a 4-inch TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 854×480 pixels, 1GB of RAM and an 8MP camera that records videos at 720p. It also supports Bluetooth and WiFi. Plus, the Nokia N950 sports a sliding QWERTY keyboard. So don’t you regret that this handset won’t be launched?

If its platform worries you, I’ll remind you about the case when a couple of months ago the French-Swiss Myriad Group said this smartphone won’t have any problem as they promise to adapt for it Myriad’s Alien Dalvik – the Java virtual machine that allows Android applications to work on other, non-Android platforms. So, I guess you regret for sure you can’t get it, am I right?

Nokia Introducing S-series and N9?

by L.K. - on Jun 9th 2010 - No Comments
The screenshot which appeared on the web only recently shows a table with the classification of all published and developed devices of Nokia. This table covers every single model – from C1 to … N9 and S-series.
But wait! Is there something about N9 or S series? Until now, Nokia did not mention anything about Nokia N9, or of a series of S. According to the schedule, N9 will turn into the most advanced smartphone of the current generation. It is possible it will become the emerging gadget of MeeGo. S-series, in which Nokia has not released any model of this series yet but as it’s obvious the models are going to be quite different from the ones offered so far.
So far Nokia announced about the several models in the following lines: C – basic series, the most affordable phones, X – youth-oriented devices with enhanced music capabilities, E – business model. In each of these series they have a few mini-series, e.g.  C1 line consists of models C1-00 C1-01 and C1-02. Total mini-series in the current classification of Nokia is around 17.

Nokia N9 – N8 with QWERTY-keyboard?

by nokiamania - on May 19th 2010 - No Comments

Several months ago the image of Nokia N98 was published in the web. There was doubt that this is the usual concept of a fan having nothing to do with the actual phone. However, Nokia N8 has recently been presented, which design is similar to that of N98, that allows to argue about the existence of N98.

In addition to cut corners like in N8 the phone is notable for striking color solutions (N8 boasts of the same), the presence of the word Nokia, N00 index , an HDMI connector on the top and an interface reminding of Symbian ^ 3 in the press-release images of N8.

Nokia N98 will supposedly get 32 GB of internal memory (instead of 16 GB as in N8), 4” capacitive display (instead of 3.5” at N8), QWERTY keyboard. The camera of N8 operates at 12  megapixel resolution and can shoot HD-video. It is unknown which module will be used in for N98.

Taking into  the account the fact that Nokia has refused the old nomenclature (C3, C5, C6, X2, N8 have been presented in recent months) the powerful novelty with QWERTY-keyboard can be designated as Nokia N9.
