Nokia 5800 and Nokia 5530 Getting Symbian Anna Features

To keep its customers Nokia’s always offering updates for the owners of the older version of Nokia devices. This is the case with the Nokia 5800 and the Nokia 5530. Both devices are running the first and original version of Symbian, thus they do not have the chance to get updated to Symbian Anna^3, and there’s no way for them to ever get the Symbian Belle OS.

Still not to disappoint Symbian^1 device owners, the carrier decided to port some Symbian Anna features to such devices. The first update roll out will include the Nokia 5800 and the Nokia 5530.

The Nokia 5800 is one of the best touchscreen devices. The manufacturer started its shipments 3 years ago and it was popular until the release of the Nokia N8, which was coming with much more advanced features.

The Nokia 5800 will receive the software version of 60.0.003, while the Nokia 5530 will get the software version of 40.0.003. These software versions have almost identical features, which means Nokia got the same features of Anna to both handsets.

The main changes caused by the software update are the following: Symbian Anna browser, Nokia Maps 3.06, support for international domain names and support for languages like Arabic and Chinese (non ASCII characters).

The update will be rolled out OTA, which means unlocked devices will be the first to get the update. Carrier-based devices will receive the update in upcoming weeks. You will not need a computer to get the update.

Nokia C6 to be the greenest phone

According to one of the latest surveys made by Good Guide, 26 of the top 30 greenest models are designed by Nokia. It could be predicted Nokia’s phones will be in leading positions in this term, but I guess no one has expected that about 90% percent of the list would be filled by Nokia.

The laboratory’s scientists have rated 576 phones depending on their health, environmental and social performance. And taking into account these aspects they give scores to the cell phones based on energy efficient chargers, environmentally-preferable materials, green production practices, recycling programs, and other factors.

It is important to mention the Nokia C6 is in the first position, so we can write down the greenest phone in the world is the C6. But the top ten list of the greenest phones is formed by other Nokia phones, below is the list:

On the contrary side is RIM and its 17 phones that finish the list as the lowest rated ones earning 3.3 scores.

Each of 26 Nokia’s phones score scoring 7.7 or 7.6 out of a possible 10 points. Samsung’s Blue Earth phone came in 27th, followed by Motorola’s Citrus and Ecomoto phones and by Palm’s Pixi Smartphone. For comparison, the Apple’s iPhone has earned 5.7 points and Apple earned this score because of its “ethical policies and performance.”

So before critics decide to predict Nokia’s death, I’ll recommend them to take into account this subjects too.

Nokia N900 and Nokia 5530 To Get Into Google Top 5 Search

According to the Mashable, two models of Nokia were in the Google’s top five most frequent searches among consumer electronics. We talk on the Nokia N900 (5^th position) and the Nokia 5530 (3^rd position).

What is remarkable, the most talked smartphone of the company, N8 didn’t get into the top. And this is after a huge amount of news, reviews, rumors and assumptions before the phone’s official announcement and release.

Anyway, on the first position was the iPad, but Apple has got another gadget in this list – the iPhone 4 that took the second place. The HTC Evo 4G was the fourth.

Though it is gladsome for Nokia that its two devices are very popular, but the company has a reason to worry, as it has launched a few smartphones lately to be noted too, but they didn’t.

New Firmware Update for the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

According to the recent entry posted by David Gilson from All About Symbian we get to know that the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is receiving a new V32.0.007, firmware update. This is just a minor firmware update that will be available to all 5530 product codes over the coming hours/days.

However before proceeding with the update, even with those devices that are enabled with UDP (User Data Preservation), you still need to back up your data, just in case anything goes to pot.
