Swype 2.1 for Symbian Soon in Nokia Store

by Argam - on Nov 9th 2011 - No Comments

Nokia and Swype have always been in a deep cooperation. I believe this cooperation was in favor of both companies because not all Nokia smartphones sport a physical QWERTY keyboard. On the other hand, there are many users who prefer tapping letter by letter slowly, so they would probably not like this app. Anyway, there is a number of users adoring Swype; the new version of this app will soon be available in Nokia Store.

Swype 2.1 was residing at the Nokia Beta Labs for a couple of months. And now the improved version of this much anticipated app will be available for download in coming weeks. We are sure because this is the latest and last beta release, which means Swype 2.1 will be officially launched soon.

The app will come with Symbian Belle support, Thai and Vietnamese language support, better install experience and many small bug fixes found by Beta testers. During the developing process Nokia Beta Labs was taking into account all user feedbacks to offer better experience.

Nokia 3D World Gaze Application Update from Nokia Beta Labs

by Argam - on Aug 30th 2011 - No Comments

I guess the fans of the Nokia 3D World Gaze are really excited to learn about a new update of the application from Nokia Beta Labs. Thanks to the update you can now use the pinch-and-zoom and smoother scroll down capabilities!

Among the rest of the interesting changes we have a new Setting panel. You can get access to this new feature using the swipe technology. The setting panel will help to change the distance dimensions from the usual kilometers to miles.

The application comes with an interesting Previewer feature. It is designed to show the location of specific items. For the territory of the U.S. the users can get an accurate information, e.g. state, street, address with the help of the Geonames, for the rest of the territories even the items with the titles will appear with the name of the authors. And from now on the nearest city will also be mentioned on the map.

This experimental application from Nokia Beta labs allows to have a close-up look at the “insides” of the planet and the world around you. Here you can have a look at the physical locations in their real dimensions, find the necessary data about specific locations, such as day and night regions, current location of the sun and much more.

The application comes with a unique icon to fit the overall design of Symbian Anna.

Nokia Ovi Suite 3.1.1.40 Ready For Testings

by Argam - on Jun 20th 2011 - No Comments

Nokia Beta Labs is introducing a whole new version of the Nokia Ovi Suite. This updated version comes with a list of usability improvements, making the feature more reliable and accurate. The new  3.1.1.40 Beta version allows the users to download apps from the Ovi Suite homescreen more easily. You are just required to connect your handset to the computer, click on the desired application and choose “Download and install.” The rest of the operations will be performed for you.

The next improvement is dealing with the Nokia Maps application. Now you can look for more maps while the first “portion” of maps is being downloaded. This means that you can deal with two simultaneous actions within the frames of the same application. There’s also a way to download a few maps at the same time, which will help you to save some time.

Keep in mind that this is not the final version of Ovi Suite, which means that you can have your own input into its improvement, so start uploading and using the Beta version of the feature today. Your opinion and suggestions will be welcomed in the official Nokia Beta Labs forums.

New Ovi Maps v3.07 Available

by Ani - on Apr 14th 2011 - No Comments

Ovi Maps v3.07 is now available at Beta Labs, so all Symbian^3 phone users can get and test it.

Many changed were made to the application; let’s try to find out more about them. First of all, Ovi Maps was modularized into four components — Maps, Drive, Check-in and Guides, and the access these modules has been made much easier.

The search option was also improved and a new tab was added to make it easier to access your favorite locations.

The Place pages and Guides were redesigned and the weather info was integrated into the Guides section (displayed on the top of it now). When you open the Guides section, you see all the available guides and services, including the weather forecast, depending on your location, which is automatically determined. You can also tap there to get more info about the weather forecast.

Additionally, it is now much easier to switch between different views – just one click is needed.

Mark Guim made a video demonstrating the new Ovi Maps v3.07 on his Nokia E7. Here it is:

Don’t forget to share your opinion about the new Ovi Maps v3.07 with us. Oh, and don’t forget to leave your feedback at Beta Labs, too, so that the developers can continue improving the application!
