Nokia Refuses NFC Phones(0) Nokia Company has announced that it will not produce the 6216 model, equipped with NFC module. Announced in April 2009, the phone was supposed to be the first model with a Near Field Communication, supporting the SWP protocol. Such a solution would allow payment transactions with authorization by special SIM-cards, rather than through a separate module as the NFC in the 6212 Classic model. Nokia explained its decision by the reluctance of the market to massively use a system of mobile payments. The model was supposed to appear in autumn 2009, but the small number of NFC terminals with SWP put the 6216 release in doubt. Meanwhile, a representative of Nokia, Mark Selby said that the company in no way loses interest in NFC and hopes to further develop this promising technology. |
