MeeGo Already On Nokia Devices!

Posted by L.K. On July - 1 - 2010

Let’s say that MeeGo operating system, which is the ideological heir of Maemo is already a month available for installation on a limited number of netbooks. It is now up to the mobile devices. This became obvious with the first screenshots and video demonstration of the interface.

Strictly speaking, the video is not anything particularly interesting and even more exciting. It shows the work of photo album, web browser, address book and typing. Everything works perky, but do not try to guess a phone model – in this case the company generally does not show a specific phone, but just a demo unit with the interface.

Aside from the fact that the symbol is not ideal -man with a square head (clearly inferior to the charisma merry green robot), it is still not particularly say what – there are no miracles. We are waiting for other news and other videos.

Nokia has reported that it is going to present new smartphones, which will help to reduce the gap between the company and its competitors. Of course, now the Finnish manufacturer is still the leader in the market of smartphones, in a competiton with such rivals as Apple and RIM.

The head of Nokia Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo noted that the company has a lot of work. “This year Nokia plans to introduce a new generation of devices that will constitute serious competition to rivals”, – said the head of the company.

During his speech Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo also said that 83 million customers around the world are active users of Nokia mobile services, but in the future this figure is planned to increase. “We are making every effort to return the leadership of high-end smartphones and mobile computers in the market. The important thing is that we make the use of our phones and our services  are more comfortable”.

Kallasvuo underlined that Nokia has been number 1 company for the production of mobile phones for 12 consecutive years. The manufacturer has sold 432 million phones worldwide, and this figure is more than those of its three main rivals combined.

We have already mention the mysterious phone from the Finnish manufacturer with an appropriate name Nokia Mystic several names. It was assumed that this is a new Nokia device of C-series. Also there was a possibility that it is a successor of popular business smartphones Nokia E71 and Nokia E72 – QWERTY-device Nokia E73. But we still do not know what will be the final name of this “mysterious” new smartphone.

Currently, there is information on the web that the smartphone Nokia E73 will appear on the U.S. market in June this year, where it will be sold through the mobile operator T-Mobile. No other details are available yet: neither the exact date of occurrence, nor the likely cost of the new device, nor any of its technical characteristics.

Nokia company plans to introduce super-budget phones to the Indian mobile market where, despite the fact that it is the second largest in the world, there are still more than 500 million people who do not have mobile phones.
It is expected that Nokia phones will cost no more than 1,000 INR (about $ 20), moreover, according to Economic Times India, among them will be several devices, the price of which will be only $ 10. It should be noted that currently the cheapest new phone of the Finnish manufacturer is Nokia 1280, which costs about $ 30. The model is equipped with a 1.35-inch display, the resolution of which is 96×68 pixels, FM-radio, speakerphone, 3.5 mm audio connector, as well as the opportunity to have mp3-melody ringtones.

With regard to new products for India, there are no pictures and no alleged characteristics. But it is already clear that the phones will not differ greatly from the already well-known Nokia 1280.
We cannot forget about another mobile phone, which also plans to submit the budget news for Indian users. A company called Gee Pee also wants to start selling phones for $ 10, but the most interesting fact is that these mobile phones are very reminiscent of the design of Nokia devices.
