Photos of Britain Taken with Nokia N8

by Ani - on Mar 29th 2011 - No Comments

If you’re fond of photography, perhaps you have heard about aerial photographer Jason Hawkes who has taken pictures around the whole world and has dozens of books published. Several days ago he organized helicopter flights over Britain to take some photos. But he didn’t take his professional camera with him for those flights. Instead he took a… Nokia N8 smartphone!

“My usual camera bag is pretty huge, and really heavy. So for the past few weeks I’ve swapped it for a Nokia N8. Is it possible to shoot aerial views all over the UK on a cameraphone?” Hawkes wrote in his blog.

Hawkes and his team had flights over London, Midlands, North England, East Anglia, Scotland and many other locations, and later the photographer wrote on his blog that “Results on the N8 were amazing.”

Here are some of the photos taken by Jason Hawkes with the Nokia N8:

It’s really hard to believe these pictures were taken with a 12MP smartphone camera! But looks like they don’t yield even to photos taken with a half-professional or even professional camera, if you’re skilled enough in photography, of course. It’s even possible to make panoramic shots with this smartphone, if you install the Panorama app, which is free and can be found on Ovi Store.

There’s also an interesting video on Hawkes’ blog you might want to have a look at:

I think the photos by Hawkes can inspire many of you to take your own pictures with your Nokia N8. If you do so, don’t hesitate to post them here!

Nokia N8 Vs Nokia C7 Photo Comparison

by L.K. - on Nov 30th 2010 - No Comments

The Nokia N8 or the Nokia C7?  Since the launch of these smartphones the world is facing a real dilemma as to which handset to choose!

Like we have mentioned before both, the Nokia N8 and the Nokia C7, are the first representatives of the Symbian ^3 family on the market. Much has been said about both gadgets and we know that each of them is uniquely gifted but still the choice is a hard one.  While the Nokia C7 charms us for its attractive and eye-catching design, the Nokia N8 knocks us down with its anodised aluminium casing that outshines every other smartphone.

Well in order to figure this out I am offering to take a look at Nokia N8 Vs Nokia C7 photo gallery.

Nokia C7 review

The Nokia C7’ s is richer in design, its has thinner casing and is very compact. The Nokia C7 camera is better fitted in the rear of the handset and does not affect the phone design.

Nokia N8 has a high end 12-Megapixel, hands down, but the bulky camera a bit spoils the line of the phone.

The Nokia C7 is also more attractive from the front, with more rounded edges and accurately positioned buttons that make it look more fresh than the Nokia N8.  However the C7 yields when it comes to the build qualit. Nokia N8′s with the anodised aluminium casing is very reliable.

Nokia N8 review

Let’s examine the front buttons of the devices, Nokia C7 comes along with more functional call and end keys as compared to Nokia N8 touchscreen options.

However when we look at the side buttons things change, the Nokia N8 has larger buttons that are more comfortable for use.  Another plus for Nokia N8 is that it is equipped with a HDMI port. The Nokia N8 is also handy in terms of the microSD card location which is located on the side of the phone, meanwhile the Nokia C7 owners will have to remove the battery for changing the card.

Nokia N8 vs the Nokia C7? Design vs camera? Whew it is going to be a hard decision?

Well with all this I can only add that tastes differ, and whatever you pick it will serve you a long term .

Nokia N8 Running iOS?

by L.K. - on Nov 25th 2010 - 1 Comment

The Nokia N8 with its Symbian ^3 operating system seems to be a all in one solution. However Chinese company does not share this idea and brings out a handset that distrustfully resembles the N8, but with a operating system that looks like iPhone’s iOS! Shocking I agree!

The Nokia N8 and iOS? Is it really a perfect combination? Well , I think Symbian ^3 operating system performs quite good and can withstand any OS rivalry.  In the video below you can notice that someone has installed iOS on the Nokia N8.

However it is not that easy to fool a sharp eye, a more careful look and the mystery is revealed , the handset is just a cheap fake of the Nokia N8, missing class-leading 12-Megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, backlight menu button  and  the anodised aluminium casing.
Although in some way the company succeeded in cloning the Nokia N8′s design, however it does not look fully convincing.

Check out the video below to make sure!

So if your Nokia will be running iOS, do not think that you are the lucky guy, you simply have the  bad fake.

Nokia’s N8 will be available via Vodafone on November 19. The outright price of the phone will be $999. Apart from Vodafone the Telecom will also supply Nokia N8.

Meanwhile we can take a look at some US reviews on Nokia N8.
US PC World thought Symbian 3 was “no rival ” for Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android. Regarding the N8′s 680MHz processor it was said to be a bit weak as compared to 1GHz smartphones.
