One of the most popular devices from Nokia- Nokia N900 was rumored to be the first device running Maemo operating system and at the end it turned out to be just fake news. And then the actual device appeared based on Android 2.1 OS, while this not the all. As we all know Android 2.1 operating system is not giving you a chance to use all of the pleasure of being an Android user.

That’s the main reason why now the operating system of the device is going to be updated to the version of Android 2.2 Froyo. This means that the users will be able to use all of the possible cellular data.

Does this mean that we should forget about Maemo operating system. Well, not necessarily, as we all know that it might be coming as a competitor of the first, but will be a strong enough competitor?

FBReader is an excellent application for Nokia N900, which makes it comfortable to read e-books on this specific devices. The application supports a variety of text formats, plus automatically detects the encoding. It’s a very useful software for those who are accustomed to read on the way in public transportation to school or work.

In particular, FBReader supports a wide range of formats including fb2, html, chm, plucker, palmdoc, ztxt, tcr (psion text), rtf, oeb, openreader, plain text, and can display text files directly from the archives of tar, zip, gzip, bzip2.

Still there are no complains from the program, which means that most likely it has success among the users. If you choose to become one of the owners, you better have FBReader downloaded to your own Nokia N900 gadget.

Isn’t this device running on Maemo OS? Yes, it surely is. But for now some of the hackers got a chance to shift the operating system of Nokia device even before some of the real googlephones could get it. Just remember the Android 2.1 running on the device.

As it must be expected the integration is not that impressive. There are lots of features which are not working normally. The list includes the network signal, IP settings for the Wi-Fi connection, problems with MicroSD cards.

Well, let’s say that all of this is expected and typical for the non-Android device! Just enjoy the 6 minute video, which will demonstrate all of the pros and the cons of the test.

Though the flagship smartphone of the Finnish mobile manufacturer is oriented for the ease-to-use of the consumers, but it was updated to version 1.2 operating platform Maemo 5, which brings improvement of the communications.

Support for video calls and Facebook chats is now added. Accepting or rejecting the invitations to the event can now be done directly in the user’s mailbox to your inbox. Web surfing is also offered in portrait mode of the display.

Subsystem menu is easy to configure, while navigation with mapping service Ovi Maps got update to graphical user interface to simplify the search for the points of destination.

The set of new games are available at Ovi Store, including Jurassic 3D Rollercoaster, Zen-bound, Angry Birds, Sygic, Kroll, Weatherbug and GoGadget.

However, it was not without disappointments: Nokia is not going to release operating platform MeeGo, developed jointly with Intel for Nokia N900. It is alleged that Maemo 5 in any case, ensures the most appropriate implementation and transfer of all the opportunities of N900, while it should noted that the device is developed to work based on Maemo.

Google-system on the Nokia device for geeks supports keyboard and touch control. Installation is carried out within the frameworks of NITDroid project, which participants are engaged in the transfer of Android on the N900 and a series of N8x0 tablet devices .

At the moment, Android 2.1 on Nokia N900 loads Bluetooth- drivers, but without their full support; drivers for Wi-Fi are built into the kernel, card of flash memory and built-in flash space are defined, but not yet installed.

As you already know, Nokia N900 is one of the latest top devices from Nokia, based on Maemo OS , and not on Symbian. The specs of the device include a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, built-in full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.5-inch resistive touch screen.

At the same time, DigiTimes resource notes that Nokia is planning to publish data on the devices based on Symbian 3 and Meego in the nearest future. Their announcement and the commercial launch will be in the second half of 2010. This information has become available from industry sources, their reference materials, which most often serve as a reliable source for the formation of forecasts.

Sometimes we come across a situation when we cannot get rid of the distance separating a group of people to organize a physical conference. Here it’s much better to use the option of conference calling either via the landline and cell phones.

The simplest way to do so is to use smartphones. They will be providing an opportunity to connect people with explicit numbers to the same “meeting room”. And this not only gives an opportunity to connect people without paying for the airline and other means of transportation, but also save money on the long distance calls especially in cases when you have an opportunity for the free conference calls.

Conference calling needs to be organized while taking into account some of the most important issues. Firstly you should make sure that your device fully supports conference calls opportunities and learn the best ways for making free conference calls.

As one of the most reliable models we can mention Nokia smartphones due to their opportunities of much better connection capabilities: they offer you strong reception and call qualities which are the most important items for the teleconferencing. From the wide range one of the best options is Nokia N900.

The flagship model of the smartphone from the Finnish manufacturer Nokia N900 has become a real surprise for those fans who can not imagine life without overclocking and increasing the productivity of the devices where this feature is not officially supported.

Today it has become known that the processor of the smartphone running at standard frequency of 600 MHz, has been overclocked to record of 1700 MHz. Let us remind, that earlier we wrote that the overclockers have reached the stable operation of the device at a frequency of 1 GHz, but today this threshold has been overcome.

Unfortunately, such an extreme overclocking is likely to severely harm the entire system, but the fact is that the clock frequency of Nokia N900 was increased more than twice if compared with recent results of standard values.
