Nokia N97 Mini Having Antenna Problems

Posted by L.K. On July - 21 - 2010

Apple in updated page devoted to the so-called “problem with the antenna” has introduced another video. At this time, the company of Steve Jobs pointed to problems with signal reception at Symbian-smartphone Nokia N97 mini. Within minutes of testing the device had lost five of seven divisions.

As previously noted by the representatives of Nokia, the Finnish company is a pioneer in all that concerns the telephone antennas. “We give priority to efficiency of the antenna, if its implementation is in conflict with the design” – said the company.

Recall the debate surrounding the problem with signal reception in certain conditions erupted shortly after the iPhone 4. Last Friday, Steve Jobs said that the problem is typical for the entire industry phones in general. As an example, he called the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris and the Samsung Omnia II.

Nokia Bots – Four Applications for N97 and N97 mini

Posted by nokiamania On March - 30 - 2010

New widgets, called Nokia Bots became available to the owners of the smartphones Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini.

The applications have been developed by Nokia Beta Labs and will run on your home screen with the aim of “improving the usability of everyday procedures”.

Until now four Nokia Bots have been created: Alarm Bot (determines at what time usually users wake up and offers alarm settings and night profiles), Profile Bot (automates the change in the profile during business meetings), Shortcut Bot (provides quick access to frequently used applications) and Battery Bot (monitors battery status and “reminds you of the need to connect the charger”).

The company still does not have any information on the possibility of release of Nokia Bots for other mobile devices.

Nokia N97 Mini Crash Test

Posted by nokiamania On March - 25 - 2010

The video of the rather curious test was posted in the Global Network. It depicted at first glance a rather harsh mockery to the phone Nokia N97 Mini – the device was strapped to the bumper of a car in the manner of a tin can. The car was moving at a speed of 70 km / h, and the phone hung on the asphalt. No chance, you will say? And you will be wrong.

The fact is that the tests were not conducted over the actual phone N97 but over the protective film Wrapsol Ultra, which was the case used on the device. The protective film has honorably took the test – except for the dust ,on the case and screen of the slider no traces were left, and the film itself was not affected greatly by proving that it is able to protect any device, even in such adverse conditions.

Ovum Analysts Believe that Nokia is Behind Competitors

Posted by nokiamania On March - 12 - 2010

Analysts at Ovum came to the conclusion that the Finnish Nokia is noticeably behind its competitors in terms of performance. Many companies have made their choice in favor of ARM Cortex A8 processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon, neglecting ARM11. However, Nokia still uses the latter in its smartphones.

The report says that Nokia phones need a little improvement in order to be more competitive. It is noted that only Nokia N900 is equipped with advanced processor (ARM Cortex-A8, 600 MHz), but Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini work with ARM11, the clock frequency of which is only 434 MHz.

The amount of RAM in the most advanced models of Nokia is 256 MB, while our competitors have phones that offer twice more. HTC HD2 is brought as an example, working with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock frequency of 1000 MHz and equipped with 448 MB of RAM.

The matter also concerns displays. Nokia currently prefers resistive screens, but most users prefer capacitive technology. There are about twenty devices in the market, equipped with high definition displays, while there is only one such device – again Nokia N900in the portfolio of the Finnish manufacturer.
