Nokia N8 will be Available at the End of August(0) The flagship Nokia phone, which the Finnish giant makes big bets on, is rumored to appear on store shelves on August 24. In any case, the German department of Amazon already takes pre-orders for purchase of the new smartphone. The official release date has been fixed by Nokia itself within the summer months. It is still unclear whether the matter concerns the global launch or the company will initially focus on European markets as before. The estimated retail price varies between 460-590 dollars. The main technical features of the smartphone Nokia N8 include the latest Symbian ^ 3 operating platform, a 3.5-inch touch screen with a resolution of 640×360 pixels, a 12 megapixel photo-video camera with xenon flash, 16-GB of internal flash memory and slot for microSD-cards. In tests of the prototype of N8 with Speedy Go benchmark that checks video graphics performance is shown that the new device is 54% faster than Samsung Omnia HD and 180% faster than Nokia N97. This is due to the fact that, despite the presence of hardware accelerator in all three phones, only Symbian ^ 3 has access to it. |

Nokia N97: Shame of the Finnish Company?(0)
The need to release touch devices in order not to let competitors far ahead (Samsung, Apple, RIM, HTC), has forced Nokia to release to the market crude devices.
It would seem, Nokia N97, the expensive flagship (and not the first touchphone in a line of the producer), should not bring inconvenience to users with software problems. However, this is not true. An indignant user has posted a video on the YouTube, which accuses Nokia of lies and cites as an example glaring deficiencies of N97, which the manufacturer intentionally hides in its promotional video. |

Ovum Analysts Believe that Nokia is Behind Competitors(0) Analysts at Ovum came to the conclusion that the Finnish Nokia is noticeably behind its competitors in terms of performance. Many companies have made their choice in favor of ARM Cortex A8 processor and Qualcomm Snapdragon, neglecting ARM11. However, Nokia still uses the latter in its smartphones. The report says that Nokia phones need a little improvement in order to be more competitive. It is noted that only Nokia N900 is equipped with advanced processor (ARM Cortex-A8, 600 MHz), but Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini work with ARM11, the clock frequency of which is only 434 MHz. The amount of RAM in the most advanced models of Nokia is 256 MB, while our competitors have phones that offer twice more. HTC HD2 is brought as an example, working with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a clock frequency of 1000 MHz and equipped with 448 MB of RAM. The matter also concerns displays. Nokia currently prefers resistive screens, but most users prefer capacitive technology. There are about twenty devices in the market, equipped with high definition displays, while there is only one such device – again Nokia N900in the portfolio of the Finnish manufacturer. |
