Nokia’s Ovi Store has just hit a record number of visitors reaching 7.62 million downloads in a single day. The previous record was registered in October of the last year and it was only 3 million, so now the number has increased more than twice! Most likely the main reason for the popularity increase is the manufacturer’s decision to get rid of the typical registration and login requirements.

According to the same statistics, the number of the users in India has tripled. And India is the biggest market for Nokia, as the number of Nokia users is quite high there.
However, the stats of Nokia are not that great if compared with monthly 13 million users of Apple’s iStore. But here we should remember that Apple offers not only smartphones, but also tablets and iPods, which are rather popular among the youth now.
Soon Windows Phone devices will be released, and the Ovi Store will be merged. It will host a list of third-party apps and features designed for the devices based on this OS.
This increase of downloads seems to be a good sign showing that Nokia is still capable of fighting for its place in the market.
