Nokia in contract with Afghanistan’s mobile carrier

by Sona - on Nov 4th 2010 - No Comments

Nokia is a company which bet on sales rates and not on the products’ price, this strategy provides the manufacturer an authority, though its incomes are not satisfactory for the investors, but the brand name probably is more than crucifying benefits. While other mobile giants are working to please the users’ needs with high profits providing business and high-end handsets to them, Nokia expands its activity area reaching to Middle East and Africa. This time Afghanistan’s largest wireless and broadband service provider, Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) signs a contract with Nokia Siemens Networks to modernize and expand the carrier’s 2.5G network and provide high-class services to the subscribers.

Afghanistan with its 17 million subscribers is a good sector for investments as its current mobile penetration is around 57 percent. The country’s mobile market is “young”, because Afghanistan was in a war and the communication sphere began to resolve since 2002. Of course, Nokia has a lot to do, but “connecting people” refers to all countries and to everyone. As we see Nokia is going forward a worthy way.

This is a step forward for AWCC, and the member of the company’s Board of Directors, Daniel M. Florentine announced:

“We are committed to improving the mobile network for our people across Afghanistan. While this demanded overhauling our network to build additional capacity and introduce new technologies, we also had to protect our existing investments. We selected Nokia Siemens Networks as we fully trust its capabilities and expertise – the company will prepare us for a seamless transition to next-generation technologies.”

The agreement assumes that Nokia will upgrade the operator’s radio network with its Flexi Base Station and Flexi Base Station Controller delivering increased capacity, connectivity and uninterrupted services. The contract will also help the carrier to cut back on its operational costs, as Nokia will bring improved communication technologies which support increased voice and data traffic on the installed base of network connections. Besides all these, the costs will be reduced as a result of changing the outdated mobile switches with state-of-the-art mobile softswitches.

In answer to Daniel M. Florentine words, Veqarul Isla, head of Nokia Siemens Networks for Middle East and Africa said:

“The mobile phone and the opportunities it brings – are becoming a fundamental right for all citizens. As in the rest of the world, people across Afghanistan want widespread access to mobile networks. We can help Afghan Wireless deliver consistent services across the country and provide the required edge to outperform competition while reducing its capital and operational costs.”

This is not all for Nokia in the Middle East, as earlier Nokia has signed up a contract with UCell, which is a premier mobile operator in Uzbekistan.

So what do you think, is Nokia the best in this strategy or not?

Statement of Standards for the Quality of Nokia Phones made in China

by nokiamania - on Jan 15th 2010 - No Comments

Many Nokia phones are made in the factories of different countries.
All the manufactured products produced in these factories, meet all the quality standards and whether the factory is based in this or other country cannot affect the quality of the product. The standard of all factories of Nokia is the same, as for Finland, Hungary, China, and India as well as for all the other factories of Nokia.
The company guarantees 100% quality of products manufactured at any factory, including Nokia factories in China and India.

It should be noted that complaints from the users of Nokia were not concerning this matter, whereas the number of customer requesting for repairing their phones does not exceed the standard, which is characteristic for the same phone models produced in Europe.
