It’s already known that Nokia’s new smartphone will be launched on September 30, but those who have ordered Nokia N8 directly from Nokia could buy it starting September 28.

Nokia N8 will be exclusive at Nokia Online for a week before it goes on general sale. In Finland you’ll have to pay 499€ to get this phone.

Nokia N8 is the first smartphone to run Symbian 3. The handset is equipped with a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash and a large sensor – features, which make Nokia N8 more competitive than the iPhone and most Android devices.

In addition, Nokia N8 offers the opportunity to make HD videos and edit them with an intuitive built-in editing suite. Doubling as a portable entertainment center, people can enjoy HD-quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound by plugging into their home theatre system.

After the digital camera social networking is the second remarkable feature of Nokia N8. Users can view live feeds from Facebook and Twitter in a single app directly on the home screen. The Nokia N8 comes with free global Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation, guiding people to places and points of interest in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The cell phone giant has been slow to introduce high-end smartphones that appeal to users, particularly those in the U.S. market. This is the general reason why people choose iPhone and Android devices in the U.S. and, that’s why I think, the new Symbian smartphone will be welcomed by American users.

Nokia N8 is Nokia’s first phone to be equipped with Qt, a software development environment that simplifies the development and makes it possible to build applications once and deploy across Symbian and other software platforms.

As Reuters reported, Nokia will release another smartphone E7 at Nokia World in London on Sept. 14. This device comes with a large touch screen and full keyboard.

Nokia E7 also runs Symbian 3 and is equipped with a 4 inch screen with 640×360 pixels resolution. The device has an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash on its backside. The price of Nokia E7 is still unknown.

According to Nokia’s official blog last year it was the Nokia N900, X6, N97mini and Nokia Booklet on the hardware side and Nokia Money, the Ovi SDK and navigation API on the software side, that bring success to Nokia. I think these two smartphones will bring more success to the manufacturer.

Expect more news from Nokia, as the Nokia Developer Summit 2010 will be held at the same time as Nokia World in London.

There is no doubt that the most awaited smartphones of this year are Nokia N8 and Apple Iphone 4. As these two “titans” have already been launched, we can compare their cameras. So, below we introduce the characteristics of these smartphones’ cameras:

iPhone 4

5 megapixel CMOS sensor

LED flash

4:3 aspect ratio

Focal length: 3.85mm (equivalent to lens of 29.4mm)

F number/Aperture: F2.8

Autofocus

Zoom : Digital 5x

Nokia N8

12 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens

Xenon flash

16:9 aspect ratio (wide screen)

Focal length: 5.9mm (equivalent to 28mm wide angle lens)

F number/Aperture: F2.8

Zoom : Digital 2x

At first sight there must be no doubt of Nokia N8′s privilege, but let’s study deeper.

Differences between cameras:

The first difference is the resolution: as we see iPhone 4 has a 5 Mpx camera, while Nokia N8 captures with a 12 Mpx camera. The difference is more than evident.

Nokia N8 could take pictures in a wider angle. Below is a picture which clearly explains the advantages of wide angle.

The picture clarity is the third significant feature of cameras, which discovers how clear could be the pictures no matter when they have been taken – on the bright sunlight or on a gloomy day.

The colors of both cameras are of a very high quality: there is nothing to compare.

And finally the flashes, to know what flash is better, we must learn more about both handsets.

So, take pictures by both smartphones and decide for yourself which of them is more powerful.

Swype is announced to be one of the most efficient ways of typing for the modern smartphones. And now the Nokia users will also get a chance to have access to this feature. The device which are equipped with S60v5, which includes such devices as Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5230, Nokia N97, Nokia N97 Mini and Nokia X6.

If I will try to shortly introduce you the meaning of this feature, I should mention about the main two things that make it unique. The first one is that the feature might use the swiping the words in one go. The next one is that the feature will try to guess the word to be typed, which helps you to save the time on typing any kind of messages.

As for the rest of the info about Swype you should keep an eye on the video:

The popular OVi Store service from Nokia has been offering not only some amazing services and features but next to them some of them turn out to be somewhat non-useful. One of those services is announced by the company to be Ovi Files service.

The last was helping out to get access to files on your PC or Mac. And now the company decided to stop providing this not-that-attractive option for its users. The service will end up by September 30, but this still leaves plenty of time to get used of leaving it.

The company gives you a chance to uninstall OVi Files Connector all by yourself. The good news is that even after this procedure you will not lose any data or file saved earlier. Anyways there are still no news about any kind of substitute service.

Nokia has announced about the completion of the acquisition of private U.S. company Motally. The first rumors about the acquisition appeared around the web by the end of the July while everything was officially announced on 20 August of this year.

Recall that the company is developing Motally mobile analytical services for logging and reporting. The Nokia company expects that this acquisition will help the developers and publishers of mobile applications to optimize their mobile applications through a better understanding of how users use their applications.

The new service is expected to get adopted for a list of platforms including Qt, Symbian, Meego and Java. In addition, Nokia will continue to serve the existing customers of Motally, leaving the company at least some part of the time to get adopted to the new service.

The project to create a series of Nokia N-Gagegaming phones, as it is known, has failed, despite the fact that technical assistance in its development was provided by Nintendo. But as it became known representatives of the PocketGamer, the Nintendo is not limited to one only support for Nokia, but in R&D department created their own game phone. It happened in the early 2000′s and precisely at the moment when the Nokia developed N-Gage. The prototype proved to be workable and was demonstrated to the Board of Directors of the company Nintendo.

At this specific point the fate of the project ended. The model has not been approved as a promising project and the production has been received. According to a source PocketGamer, this happened because of the conservatism of the company, which always has a number of projects with R&D, but only a few of them saw the light. At the same time, when creating a game phone, another group of engineers began work on a portable gaming consoles DS. And it should be noted that this project was much more promising: in contrast to the Nokia N-Gage gaming consoles in the series, which has sold over 120 million. But studies for wireless communications were used to create the Wii and Nintendo 3DS. So to say that the board of directors of the company made a mistake – it is impossible.

During the conversation with New York Times reporters the head of Nokia Research Center, Henry Tirri shared his thoughts on the development of hardware features in portable devices. In particular, he drew attention to the topic of developing their own chip, which is not surprising. That’s what Apple did – it has created its own SoC-System A4, which they applied to iPhone and iPad 4.Let it not as unique as it is trying to be presented in Cupertino, but due to hardware and software optimization of new gadgets Apple demonstrated outstanding autonomy and excellent performance.

Nevertheless, Tirry is not happy with the practice of creating specialized processors for their own products. According to him – it is too risky and easier to use ready-made solutions, even at the expense of some functionality of the finished product. The risk in this case is that at the slightest mistake can lose a lot of money for one cycle needed to create the chip. It takes a very accurately determination of the functionality of future devices, choosing the right trend. But the thing is that the company has already given it to begin to develop the processor. Error in the predictions can cost all the money that will be invested in creating the chip.

The words of Tirri could’ve not been taken seriously, if not his vast experience in the IT-industry. For 40 years he worked in the field of computer science and is a well known figure not only in Nokia, but also in the “Silicon Valley”. According to the scientist, instead of chips, the Finnish company will focus on the materials used in the production of terminals. For example, in research centers employees are working on advanced materials capable of changing its color, easy to resist liquids and dirt, literally growing keyboard and other interface elements on the touch screen. By the way, it resembles the concept of Nokia Morph.

Do you have a hard time finding the spot where you parked your car? Well, then this application is simply for you. The thing is that with the help of ” I parked here” application you will be able to find the destination point of your car. And all of this is being done with the help of the popular Ovi maps.

You only need to press the button of find my car and you’ll get it. The application is now available to get via Ovi Stores. There are two versions of it. The first one is for free and feels to be only a couple of weeks trial, while for the second one you have to pay 99 cents. So far I’m not familiar with the differences between the two, but I guess 99 cents is not a reasonable sum to save on.

Nokia has announced about the testing of Nokia Listings service, which is oriented on the inhabitants of developing countries. As reported in the developers blog, the new service is designed to simplify the job search, and the process of buying and selling various goods. The appropriate application can work on all Nokia phones with support for Java, but it is best suited for the Series 40 platform.

According to the company, currently more than 60% of job offers, as well as the various operations of sales and rentals are made through intermediaries when having charges for the commission payments. Finnish manufacturer wants to ensure a direct link between employee and employer, purchaser and seller.

The third section is designed to advertise local services. The service is based on technology geo-codes, allowing the user to learn only the information relevant to the region.

So far the new service is available only to the Indian owners of Nokia phones.

Vice-president of Nokia’s head of sales and marketing Niklas Savander, responding via Twitter to users’ questions, explaining the reasons for the unwillingness to release Android smartphones. According to him, the mobile platform from Google does not support everything that may be done by Symbian and MeeGo.

It should be noted that on many topical issues concerning the situation of Finnish companies, Niklas Savander preferred to laugh it off, and some of his answers were similar to the slogans of good prospects for Nokia. Nevertheless, some useful information from the unique Twitter-interviews can be learned.

Thus, the representative of the Finnish company said that the first Nokia smartphone running MeeGo will be presented at the end of the year. In this case, Niklas Savander agreed with the statement that the time between the announcement of devices and their release should be reduced.

Senior Representative ofNokia also said that for now the company has no plans to work closely with the U.S. carriers Verizon, AT & T and T-Mobile.
