Originally released for Nokia smartphones based on Symbian S60 platform, Nokia Messaging mail service will now be also available for phones based on S40.

So far, Nokia announced the availability of Messaging for S40 only in Ecuador, where the application will go preinstalled on several new entry-level phones. Nokia did not specify the phones, but probably the list will include Nokia 2690, Nokia 7230, and even Nokia X3.

Like the version for S60, Nokia Messaging for S40 is a free application providing access to a maximum of 10 POP / IMAP email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Ovi Mail, etc.).

The company did not state when the service will be available in other countries, but we know for sure  that it will happen  sometime in the near future.

Nokia has announced the launch of Comes with Music service in China (it offers unlimited access to the music catalog). Moreover, the world’s largest mobile market for music downloads will be offered without DRM protection. At the moment service operates in Brazil, Russia, Indonesia and 15 other countries, however, Nokia offers music with DRM there. Rumor has it that there are “unprotected” tracks in the music directory of Nokia, which may soon spread to a new trend and beyond the Chinese market.

According to Nokia, Comes with Music service in China will offer access to music, including the local record companies. In this market, Nokia is working with a local company Huadong Feitian. Now, at the time of the launch, along with Comes with Music offers 8 models – Nokia X6 32GB, Nokia X6 16GB, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5330, Nokia 5800w, Nokia 6700s, Nokia E52 and Nokia E72i. It is priced starting from 140 euros (excluding taxes and discounts).

A few days ago the shop of applications of the Finnish company, which has recently changed  its design, has been filled with programs and games, equipped with functions to respond to the movement.

However, it should be noted that at present the majority of new products are still useless in their practical sense.

In fact, only one application named eyeCall might be useful for you: it is enough to hold your hand in front of the phone’s camera in order to avoid the sound of an incoming call, or to completely close the eye of the camera in order to send the caller a text message automatically.

The other applications, according to the primarily information have funny names such as FartControl, Truth or Dare, Fortune Cookies and Ninja Strike.

In mid-January Nokia announced the transfer of navigation service Ovi Maps on a free basis. However the free walking and satellite navigation became available to owners only of relatively new models – N97, N97 mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 Navigation Edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 Navigator, 6730 classic, X6, N86 8MP.

The fresh press release shows that Nokia has taken into account the desires of  the users and has developed a version of Ovi Maps, compatible with former smartphones E71 and E66. However, not all features of new Ovi Maps have been implemented – there are no Guide Michelin and Lonely Planet premium services.

Ovi Maps for E71 and E66 are already available for downloaded from the Ovi Store.

According to the analysts, Nokia is now working on a new internet tablet. The competitor of iPad from the Finnish manufacturer of mobile phones may appear even this year.

Nokia Corporation continues to actively explore new markets. Thus, a few months ago Nokia presented its first personal computer (or more precisely- netbook), and before the end of this year an internet tablet with a large touch screen may appear under the Finnish brand.

The analyst from the Rodman and Renshaw agency Ashok Kumar was the one who became aware of the fact that the largest mobile phone manufacturer has decided to follow the sample of Apple and surprise the world with its tablet. According to him, Nokia can not simply afford to delay the release of its own iPad “killer”.

“If you do not try to take away the initiative from Apple in time, then leadership of this corporation will eventually become unconditional” – says Kummer. – Now Nokia is ready for presentation of the internet tablet this fall. The sales of the device will start in September or October – just in time for holiday-sales”.

He also added that the Finnish internet tablet, like HP Slate, will use software from Microsoft. However, according to other analysts, the gadget will be running MeeGo, the operating system which is being developed by the Finnish corporation in conjunction with Intel.

‘Probably, MeeGo was created especially for “pills” market”, – said Tero Kuittinen of MKM Partners. Nokia will simply have to declare itself in this market, otherwise for Nokia this “armed race” may result in cannibalizing the smartphones of top price segment.

It is worth noting that in fact the development of devices created for web surfing and multimedia, is not new to Nokia. So, back in 2005, the Finnish corporation introduced Nokia 770 internet tablet, which worked under the control of Maemo operating system. However, neither this model, nor any of its followers did gain special popularity among users.

Introduced last year Nokia N900 internet tablet is a good choice for mobile enthusiasts who like to tinker with alternative operating systems and software. Even greater interest among these users will obviously be caused by the news that the ARM Cortex A8 processor with the base frequency of 600 MHz operating in Nokia N900 turns out to be able to accelerate well.

One of the Maemo (the software platform used in Nokia N900) forum participants, hiding under the nickname Lehto, managed to increase the frequency of the processor ARM Cortex A8 up to 1000 MHz (fixed effect)by modifying the kernel of the operating system. It is noted that Nokia N900 has a stable operation  at 900 MHz frequency.

Naturally, when overclocking the processor the productivity of mobile device also increases, although, meantime of course reduces the time of off-line operation and potentially – its service period. In addition, the actual performance may depend on climate, ambient temperature and even on the specific sample of chip in your Nokia N900. It is interesting that this internet tablet uses the same ARM Cortex A8 processor at 600 MHz, and the iPhone 3GS, although the Apple communicator is much better protected from interference of mobile hackers.

We have already mentioned the new smartphone Nokia N8 in the news. This model will be the new flagship of Nokia mobile line, its release is planned to take place in fall, probably in September. However, this information is  still unofficial. There are rumors about the specs of Nokia N8: it is a touchphone based on Symbian ^ 3 OS, equipped with a 3.5-inch touch screen, a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, as well as HDMI port. In addition to all of  this, a number of photos ascribing Nokia N8 have already appeared on the web.

And now there is a little more information about the new flagship. As it is reported in one of Twitter blogs, The Mill company completed a promotional video of Nokia Vasco model. More precisely, it will be “viral” marketing. Three-dimensional graphics will be realized in the video and soccer theme will be used. It is assumed that Nokia Vasco is the same Nokia N8. It is logical to assume that if the video is ready, it will soon be launched. And the announcement of the new device is not far off. By the way, after some time this record of Twitter was removed from public access, only its screenshot was left.

In February, Nokia and Intel have announced the creation of a joint platform MeeGo. The release of devices based on this operating system is expected take place by the end of the year. Nokia N9 is likely to be the first model.

According to the documents, which were recently found on the Internet, the phone is denoted by Nokia developers with an index RX-99. By the way, the first Maemo-device Nokia N900 had the index RX-51. The source suggests that Nokia N9 (N9-00) will be released in the 4th quarter of 2010, and will be presented in October.

Specifications of N9 are still unknown (except for built-in memory – 64 GB (indicated on the label)).

Perhaps no one but Nokia engineers can better tell how to disassemble a particular device. The official video from Nokia Care shows the process of dismantling the smartphone Nokia E75. The clip can be useful, for example, when replacing the shell.

Note that you should approach to this process carefully; otherwise there is a risk to break some fragile pieces. Then no video will help and you will have to have your phone repaired.

The need to release touch devices in order not to let competitors far ahead (Samsung, Apple, RIM, HTC), has forced Nokia to release to the market crude devices.

It would seem, Nokia N97, the expensive flagship (and not the first touchphone in a line of the producer), should not bring inconvenience to users with software problems. However, this is not true. An indignant user has posted a video on the YouTube, which accuses Nokia of lies and cites as an example glaring deficiencies of N97, which the manufacturer intentionally hides in its promotional video.
