T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 Now Free with a Contract

by Argam - on Feb 2nd 2012 - No Comments

The second Nokia Windows Phone, the Lumia 710 is finally getting more affordable. Originally available from T-Mobile at $49.99 it is now available for free. It’s noteworthy that we have this free option right a day after the price was cut to $39.99.

To get your free unit go to the closest Microsoft Store location or order one via T-Mobile official website.

Just to remind, the manufacturer stated this device would fit into the mid-range series, while it ended up as a low-cost entry level WP smartphone.

Similarly, the price of the device is dropped in other markets as well (Russia, India and even Canada). In Russia the smartphone’s price is cut by 35%, which is an enormous cut for a brand new smartphone. Now the Russian customers can get the handset for only 9890 rubles ($325).

Some experts claim the price cut is conditioned with the WP smartphone’s low sales. Still another flagship of the same lineup will be soon released, thus the interest towards the lineup needs to be kept on the top level. But on the other hand, different reports claim the phone is sold very well, so I personally think such price discounts are a strategic move to promote the Lumia series. I believe the Lumia 710 was designed to help Nokia become more popular, and not ensure some benefit.

Black Nokia Lumia 710 Available In Russia

by Argam - on Dec 21st 2011 - No Comments

The Nokia Lumia 710 is not that overwhelming with its high-end specs and overall performance, while in terms of design the device is just impressive. Especially the black color is but great and hides the cheap look of the buttons located under the display.

The device is finally released in Russia. Here the main carrier of the handset is MTS, which is offering the black version of the device at the price of 13,490 rubles (around $422). Pretty cheap, huh? In addition the carrier gives its customers a 3-month free internet service.

As an alternative option to the carrier, Euroset is offering the contract free device, while the price of the device is unknown.

The main competitors of the handset in Russia are the HTC Radar and the Samsung Omnia W, which both fall in the same price range and feature the same operating system.

The Nokia Lumia 710 features a 3.7 inch ClearBlack display, a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, a 5 megapixel camera and 8GB of storage. The only obvious lacks are the small display and the not that powerful camera. But did you expect more at such a price?

Nokia Lumia 710 Started Shipping

by Argam - on Dec 12th 2011 - No Comments

The Lumia 710 is Nokia’s second handset running Windows Phone and now it started shipping. This phone is packed with almost the same features as its elder brother, but it will be offered at a more affordable price meaning the phone is designed as a budget-handset.

When Nokia announced its first Windows Phone smartphones, the Lumia 800 and the Lumia 710, there were few people believing the company would succeed launching them. Especially, Asian countries were commenting loudly as they were sure Nokia would bring its devices to Asia, because the US and Europe denied them. Of course, these are the words of simple users, who don’t understand anything about mobile world and they want whatever strikes the eye. I mean a few months ago Android was a leading platform, and many users used to think it’s the best and Nokia can’t compete with it. However, the last cases showed Android isn’t that powerful and Nokia isn’t that weak.

We have already introduced to you the Nokia Lumia 710 Preview showing all its advantages and disadvantages, but we think its key feature is its stylish design. All in all, Nokia’s both handsets look very nice and differ from other Nokia phones and other manufacturers’ handsets. That can be very important when entering the US smartphone market, as the leading companies of this market often produce smartphones not differing from each other. In general, they look quite similar, which becomes a reason for patent suitcases.

Unlike them, the Lumia 710 comes with a stylish design and is packed with a myriad of attractive specs. At first it refers to Windows Phone Mango, which has managed to win the hearts of many smartphone users. It includes a 1.4GHz processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen, a 5MP rear camera and 8GB of internal memory. As you see it is a little bit weaker than the Lumia 800, but it’s a good option for users wishing to enjoy Windows Phone Mango, but unable to afford buying the Lumia 800. These users can now pick up this handset at an affordable price. The Lumia 710 is being shipped to Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Russia at a price tag of 270 Euros excluding taxes and subsidies.

ION Store To Sell Nokia 6303 For Visually Impaired People in Russia

by L.K. - on Aug 2nd 2010 - No Comments

Digital Center ION announced that its online store will start selling Nokia phones with preinstalled software that facilitates its use for visually impaired people, as well as ordinary people in difficult situations.

This newest Nokia 6303 is equipped with a special application that extends the boundaries of the phone. The program was developed by the members of the Lebedev Physical Institute (FIAN).

The company notes that a special pre-installed and properly configured software will allow the owner to expand the functionality of the phone, making it easier to use. In cases where a common set of numbers is difficult or impossible (moving, driving, frost and rain), the set can produce any of the available methods with a pleasant voice announcer: voice or keyboard. The program also allows navigating the phone book, voicing the exact time and a text message arrival. A particularly useful application would be for people with bad eyesight, ophthalmologic diseases or extreme.

The program is a j2me application for mobile phones. The program is compatible with most models of mobile phones that support MIDP 2.0 and Mobile Media API. Minimum screen resolution to work with the program is 128×128 pixels. Font program automatically increases for larger screens.

Nokia C6 in Russia

by L.K. - on Jul 21st 2010 - No Comments

Another new company went on sale in the territory of Russia.

Currently you can buy a phone in Moscow in the flagship store on Tverskaya Street, as well as the online store at Nokia n-store.ru. Recommended cost of the phone is 12990 rubles.

This device is another gadget of the budget line. Nokia C6 is a hybrid flagship of N-series Nokia N97 and Nokia 5230 music touchphone XPressMusic. From the N97 it got the form factor of QWERTY-slider, from 5230 – designed front panel and, in general, all the “insides” (except for the 5megapixel camera). The model C6 is certainly attractive, especially in a completely new black enclosure, but too similar to the 5230. Definitely, this is not a potential hit of sales as Nokia is an attempt to master new horizons.
