by - on Dec 8th 2011 - No Comments

Now that you have entered the club of the Nokia Lumia 800 users, you need not only to keep it charged and clean, but also to follow if there are any updates available for it. Not that the Lumia 800 has any significant faults, but the updates will raise it to new experience levels. Nokia is very careful in listening to the comments coming from the users of its phones and it’s good the company is prompt on solving minor issues even if they are related to the more comfortable usage of the smartphone.

Last Month Nokia announced it will be releasing early in December a software update for the Lumia 800. Now this update is available on Nokia’s official website. There are some details also about what this update contains. Earlier in November Nokia responded to comments on some charging issues on the Nokia Lumia 800, and this new update is going to solve that. Moreover, there is a better voicemail notification method, sending emails was improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003, some improvements were made in audio quality as well and finally there is a betterment of automatic brightness adjustment system for bright light conditions.

There is also a link on the same page as the update to download Microsoft Zune application through which you can synchronize your music and video, and get Windows Phone updates as well.

White Nokia N9 Coming with Software Update

by Argam - on Oct 28th 2011 - No Comments

Taking into account that Nokia hardly ever introduces low-priced devices for the emerging markets, the announcement of such handsets as the Nokia Asha 300, 303 and 200, was a real surprise. Nevertheless, the surprise list doesn’t end here.

The manufacturer is now working on the release of the white version of the Nokia N9. Other than that, Nokia 9 users will get a new software update.

Frank Zillikens states:

“The manufacturing process for beautiful white products is quite complex and we wanted to make sure we deliver the best possible quality for our consumers”.

The White Nokia N9 is already the fourth color option of the smartphone, which is already available in cyan, magenta and black options. But the white option of the handset looks way too elegant and classy.

The handset is expected to be available sometime before the end of this year with 64 GB memory capabilities. Hopefully for this version Nokia will offer a glossy finish instead of the matte one offered earlier.

As for the software update coming to this Harmattan MeeGo device, we should mention that it’ll bring a large list of enhancements, including NFC tag reading, music controls on lock screen and many more.

Nokia has released a software update for music phones Nokia X6 and X3. Upgrading from version version v20.0.005 to v21.0.004 brought many changes to the applications for Symbian smartphone X6, while the X3 based on the S40 platform has received only minor improvements in the notification of battery life, call time and audio signals.

Full list of changes for Nokia X6:

Upgrade your browser to version 7.2
Ovi Music
Ovi Sync 2.0
Ovi Store 1.5.6
Ovi Contacts 1.50.8
30-day trial version of Shazam
Improved kinetic scrolling in Appshell
Gimlet Touch 2.2
Flash Video Phase-3 – Flash Lite 3.1.7.x
Ability to use Side Lock Key in Swipe UI
Windows 7 Device Stage Support
Updated video telephony
Mail for Exchange v2.9.210
Improved stability and performance

As you can see from this list, there are no fundamental changes in the software – it is customary to improve the standard set of functions. According to the Nokia Web Developer’s Library, the browser for Symbian OS 7.2 version supports multi-touch and provides a zoom with two fingers. However, reviews of the users who already downloaded this pack, say that this feature is still unavailable, despite the presence of a capacitive screen. A possible reason is the limitation in Symbian S60 5th Edition.
