Windows Phone Mango is not officially released yet, and most of us are waiting for it impatiently. Still the rumors about the upcoming versions of Windows Phone are already hitting the web. The current one is about Windows Phone Tango. This is assumed to be the WP version that will be released after Windows Phone Mango and before its major follow-up — Windows Phone Apollo.

The main feature of the upcoming Tango version will be the functionality of the new global search. This is not a big feature, that’s why the analysts claim that this version will be targeting mainly low-end WP devices. Since Nokia has promised to have a few cheaper WP devices, this might be the main group. The shift of attention from high to low-end devices from Microsoft is reasoned by the presence of many competitors. This is the only way to get more people interested in WP instead of the popular Android and iOS.
Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft expert, claims:
“Tango was “all about Nokia” and focused on hitting the lower-price point for Windows Phones that Microsoft and Nokia execs have been promising.”
The main feature of the Tango version will most likely be the support for resistive touchscreens, which will lower the touchscreens’ prices.
